The love of the great general for an ordinary singer

President Kim Il Sung said:

Looking back the sacred life of Chairman Kim Jong Il who dedicated his all for the Korean people and revolutionary soldiers, what comes to our mind is a story about his warm care about a singer of the State Merited Chorus.

One day in March, Juche 92(2003), Chairman Kim Jong Il enjoyed the performance of the State Merited Chorus singing a new song

On the glorious day the singer never dreamed that Chairman would congratulate him on his birthday.

After the performance Chairman happened to know that the day was the singer's birthday and warmly congratulated him with clapping.

He used to be an ordinary worker of the Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill at one time before he got professional education at Sinuiju Art School and Pyongyang University of Music and Dance (then), and became a singer of the Merited Chorus of the Korean People's Army Song and Dance Ensemble (at that time) by the favor of the Party and state.

He was highly praised and given undeserved political trust from Chairman Kim Jong Il several times and grew into a famous and talented cantor of the Chorus.

Seeing the performance given by the State Merited Chorus on December 24, Juche 88(1999) at the end of the 1900s, Chairman Kim Jong Il praised him for singing well the song "We Started from Scratch", saying that he could not help weeping while listening to the chorus. He continued to say that he used to gain strength by listening to the song whenever difficulties and trials were manifold.

One day, Chairman personally taught him about the problems arising in singing songs and led him step by step. Chairman also sent him to a European country which is famous in the field of vocal music to improve his skills. When he was awarded a gold voice prize at a foreign music concours, Chairman was more pleased than anyone else and made him well-known to people.

The love of Chairman for the singer was getting bigger day by day.

Having learned that his vocal cords were damaged and he could not sing on the stage anymore, Chairman took measures of treatment in a perfect hospital, and when he recovered so as to sing with his original tone, Chairman was so pleased that he even rose from his seat.

Saying that he should take good care of his neck in many occasions, Chairman sent many tonics and took measures to treat him when he was ill. This anecdote is true for not only the singer but also other people.

Indeed, Chairman Kim Jong Il who took care of all the soldiers and gave them all honor and happiness was the best incarnation of love and trust.
