Greatest blessings enjoyed by a farmer

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The respected leader Comrade Kim Il Sung was the benevolent father of our people, who cherished the warmest love for them."

In the history of Juche Korea, there are many moving stories about President Kim Il Sung who treated an unknown farmer as the master of the countryside and the master of the country and blessed him with the greatest happiness in the world.

Among them, there is a story about the "Good fortune" of An Tal Su from the Sowon Plain. He was a farmer and he had lived as a servant and a labourer since the age of nine before the liberation of the country. After the liberation, he worked as chairman of the management board for more than 40 years under the care of President Kim Il Sung.

When he visited Sowon-ri of Pyoksong County, South Hwanghae Province on February 11, Juche 46(1957) after the war, President Kim Il Sung met him for the first time and An Tal Su had remained deep in president's mind as a simple and honest rural official who was cultivating Sowon plains throughout his whole life fulfilling his duty as peasant of the country. He saw to it that he could lead a happy life.

One day in June Juche 65(1976), President Kim Il Sung visited the countryside on the west coast. When he was passing by the Sowon Plain, he recognized the peasant An Tal Su and let the car stop.

That day President Kim Il Sung had a talk with him about farming. He asked him to have a photo taken with him as a souvenir for that meeting and left a famous, impressive picture in which he was folding An Tal Su's arm in the peasant's attire under the sunshine of midsummer.

President Kim Il Sung left him saying good-bye after giving the highest honour that a man of this country can receive. And he stopped the car which had been running for a long time, and acquainted his officials with the health conditions of An Tal Su for a long time, and looked at the Sowon Plain for a long time.

In retrospect, the benevolence he bestowed on him was a special one.

When he visited the Sowon Cooperative Farm one year, he sent dozens of ex-servicemen as requested by him, with a particular interest in building up the class position in the countryside. When he was elected deputy to the Second Supreme People's Assembly, he called him and gave precious instructions.

When he visited the farm one year, he learned that he was very ill because of the illness he had gained from a hard-working life before the liberation of the country and he personally sent him three terms' tickets to a sanatorium for medical treatment. At the inaugural meeting of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, he called him at a resting time and encouraged him to be the chairman of the management board for another 20 years. When he was sick, he told him to take medical treatment in time and took measures for him to take medical treatment at a well-known hospital.

Afterwards, too, he told the senior official of the province that he should continue to work as a chairman of the management board. When he passed the village, he called him to work being careful about his health.

Although he gave all the happiness he could give to an ordinary peasant in the countryside who had long been acquainted with, and gave the highest glory to him even a moment ago, he stopped again and told officials to take him to the hospital for medical examination and treatment. He repeatedly told him to admit him to the best hospital in Pyongyang today.

That day An Tal Su was admitted to a hospital in Pyongyang and using all the latest medical facilities and best medicines, he got rid of all the disease of his body.

President inquired about his medical condition and saying there was nothing to spare for An Tal Su, he saw to it that he had a gold tooth planted and sent him a photo taken with him worrying that he might get bored in the hospital.

An Tal Su was awarded the Order of Kim Il Sung, the highest order of Juche Korea, and became a deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly and a labour hero, while working as chairman of the management board for over forty years as instructed by President Kim Il Sung.

President Kim Il Sung arranged An Tal Su's 70th birthday party and personally sent a wreath with regret that he had lost a precious rural revolutionary when he died.

An Tal Su was one who was blessed with the greatest blessings.

Thanks to the warm care of President who had always been closest to the peasants and visited farms regardless of the time, the peasants who had been maltreated and abandoned for a long time, could enjoy all blessings as a great contingent of heaven.
