Since the appearance of the slave-owning state, the first of its kind in human history, all the countries and nations formed states and developed with the state as a unit.
During that protracted period, all the states conducted various activities with their own political ideals and outlook on development.
Individuals have discussed state activities with different standards, while many governments and politicians have also defined and formulated state policies according to their own standards.
But even in the countries that advocate that they are conducting state activities for their citizens, advertising themselves to be conducting "model" activities for their citizens, are experiencing endless demonstrations and strikes held by the working people for their right to existence.
Then, what are the genuine standards of state activities for building a society, where people live happily with hope and optimism about their future, an ideal society that they are so desirous of but cannot build?
The answer can be believed to be found only in socialist Korea.
For the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, whose mission is to represent and defend the interests of the masses of the people and serve them, the demands for independence and interests of the masses constitute the starting point of formulating the state's lines and policies and the absolute standards and yardstick of all its work.
The respected Comrade
"True to the noble will of President
Nothing can be done without standards.
In socialist Korea, where the masses are the masters of everything and everything serves them, all state activities are conducted with the demands and interests of the masses as the standards.
It is the firm political ideals of the state that all its activities should be thoroughly oriented and subordinated to defending and realizing the demands and interests of the people and faithfully serving them.
By regarding the demands and interests of the people as the absolute standards, the state should conduct its activities to do what the people want and like and what they can enjoy benefit from – this is the respected Comrade
When he visited a public service unit, he said:
The fairest standards of assessment of the work done by officials are the people's opinion. If they say good, no other assessment is necessary. Whatever they do, officials should do it so that the people would like it.
Thanks to his noble intention, the people-first politics has become the basic political mode of the state, and all state activities are oriented to defending and realizing the people's demands and interests.
The reality, in which monumental edifices of the times for the working masses are rising one after another, is the result of the state activities peculiar to the country that regards their demands and interests as the absolute standards.
In spite of difficult situation, 10 000 modern flats have sprung up in the capital city every year without fail, the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District presented its peculiar appearance, and the Jungphyong and Ryonpho greenhouse farms were built, followed by the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm built in about one year as a world-leading vegetable production base, whose production will be put on a highly intensive, optimized and intellectual footing.
All the edifices being built in the DPRK are associated with his love for the people, who regards their aspirations and demands as the standards of all creations.
He said:
The masses of the people are the creators of architecture as well as their enjoyers. Therefore, the people's aspirations, demands and conveniences should be given top priority in construction, and ideological and artistic qualities and practicability should be fully ensured in construction to meet the people's emotions and aesthetic tastes.
His devoted efforts–even visiting far-away construction sites to give wonderful creations to the people–are bearing fruition throughout the country, as happy cradles for the people, paradises of civilization, are rising up one after another following his steps.
The magnificent Rimhung and Jonwi streets in the capital city of Pyongyang have been built as model edifices of socialist civilization; the working people in rural communities in different parts of the country are full of joy as they were provided with new flats; the children are studying and singing songs, receiving school uniforms, school things and dairy products free of charge; the regional people are full of excitement as they see the factories rising day by day–such stirring realities seething with a new life, a new hope and a new sentiment of the people are the crystallization of the people-first politics, which can be found only in the DPRK.
As it is the mode of state activities to find out even one more thing and do it for the people by regarding their demands and interests as the absolute standards, the cheers of socialism will resound forever in the DPRK.
