Lighting became Brighter in a Fountain Garden

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

Chairman Kim Jong Il is the eternal leader of the Korean people who regarded it as his motto to believe in the people as in Heaven, boundlessly loving them, as well as always gave a priority to the people's demands and interests and devoted himself to them.

Anywhere in the socialist Korea is permeated with the efforts of Chairman Kim Jong Il for the promotion of the people's well-being and convenience.

Along the trail of his efforts and devotion left a heartfelt story about the lighting of a fountain garden becoming brighter.

It was one day in May, 1978.

That evening, while he was driving past the fountain garden of the Mansudae Art Theatre, he suddenly stopped and watched the place for a while.

Then he asked the accompanying officials if the lighting didn't seem so bright.

The officials did not answer him at once, but looked at each other.

Because the chandeliers were set up in places of the garden, and colored lights were lit in all sorts of harmony inside the fountain pond.

Looking round the officials for a moment, he said that the present lighting was not bright enough to take photos at night.

He continued that the people would like it if they could go out and enjoy the night view for picture-taking, and that the garden would be conditioned to be impeccably convenient for the people.

That day, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that the lighting of the garden would be as bright as floodlighting of a stadium, estimating the numbers and capacity of floodlights to be installed.

Like this, he took the pains to provide for the convenience of the people without overlooking even a trifling matter and continued his patriotic road embroidered with the ardent love for and devotion to the people all his life, whereby he found pleasure.

Indeed, Chairman Kim Jong Il was a peerless patriot, who, with love for the people as his natural disposition, made the most active and self-sacrificing devotion for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people in the whole course of his revolutionary life.
