The Validity of the Idea Set Forth by Chairman Kim Jong Il of Converting the Education of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School into an Education of Gifted Children

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"In order to train the backbone of the revolutionary armed forces in keeping with the present situation and the developing revolution, Mangyongdae Revolutionary School must convert its education into an education of gifted children and intensify the basic sciences and military education, in addition to strengthening the political and ideological education."

In the teachings he gave when he visited Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on January 1, 1997, and the historic letter "Mangyongdae Revolutionary School Is the Training Centre of the Backbone That Will Succeed to the Juche Blood" he sent to the teaching staff and students of the school on October 12, 1997, on the occasion of its 50th founding anniversary, Chairman Kim Jong Il set forth the idea of converting the education of the school into an education of gifted children.

The validity of his idea is that, first of all, it is the idea of training the children to be genuine successors to the revolution to meet the requirements of the developing revolution, thus strengthening the pillars and roots of the revolution.

The victory of the revolutionary cause depends largely on how well the backbone of the revolution is prepared.

Only when the reserves of the revolution, especially the backbone forces are trained into the ones strongest in the mental strength who have inherited the fighting spirit and indomitable soul of the forerunners, can the red flag of the revolution maintain its colour without any discoloration and the revolutionary base be strengthened into a pure integral whole, free from pollution by any sort of miscellaneous idea.

Mangyongdae Revolutionary School is the pedigree establishment for training the backbone that will succeed to the bloodline of the Korean revolution and a reliable base for inheriting the revolutionary tradition of Juche.

President Kim Il Sung regarded it as an important task to educate the bereaved children of revolutionaries even in difficult conditions after the liberation of the country and wisely led the struggle for its realization, thus founding the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School on October 12, 1947.

The founding of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School was a brilliant fruition of the President's idea on education for the children of revolutionaries and revolutionary fidelity, and an event of historic significance in training the successors to the revolution. With the founding of the school, the children of the revolutionary martyrs of Korea could learn to their hearts' content under the benevolent care of the Party and the leader, and the WPK and the Korean people had a reliable base for training the backbone to succeed to the bloodline of the revolution.

The President gave field guidance to the school over 110 times and gave hundreds of important instructions to clarify the way ahead of the school in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution and spared nothing to turn the school into the highest institute for the education of bereaved children.

Thanks to the paternal love and care of the President, Mangyongdae Revolutionary School has followed the historic course shining with victory and glory, overcoming all the difficulties and ordeals.

From the pioneer days of the Juche revolution, the revolution has advanced far and won a series of historic victories, but many difficulties and trials are still ahead of the revolution.

In order to train more and better backbone forces that will take over the revolution and bear the destiny of future Korea on their shoulders, the school should improve the content of education as well as teaching methods and encourage the teachers to enhance their sense of responsibility and role, thus improving its overall educational work and decisively raising the level.

The validity also lies in the fact that the idea makes it possible to train the children of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School to be competent revolutionary talents who will shoulder the building of a powerful socialist country.

Today is the era of science and technology, and the development of society and the national power of the country are determined by the talents who will shoulder the development of science and technology.

The increasing demand for talents is calling for the school to intensify the education on basic sciences and technologies for the children of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School, who should be prepared as the core of the revolution, thus training all of them into competent revolutionary talents.

In order to fulfil its noble duty for the times and revolution, the school should bring up its children to be competent revolutionary talents who are not only politico-ideologically sound but also well-versed in sci-tech, so that many graduates can become talented scientists, technicians and experts capable of building a powerful socialist country.

Indeed, the idea of converting the education of Mangyongdae Revolutionary School into an education of gifted children set forth by Chairman Kim Jong Il is the most justifiable one, which originated from the realistic requirement for building a powerful socialist country, the world trend of scientific and technological development and the importance of the duty of the school.

Chairman Kim Jong Il wisely led the work to develop the school into a backbone training base which fulfils its honorable mission and duty before the revolution.

Today under the benevolent care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, Mangyongdae Revolutionary School is developing into a model admired by all the educational units across the country.

Thanks to the wise leadership and ardent love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is making painstaking efforts to train the children of revolutionary martyrs into reliable successors and reserves to carry forward the Juche revolution, the inheritance and invincibility of the Korean revolution and the bright future of the revolutionary cause of Juche are guaranteed forever.
