"Mother Hen" And "Breeder Hen" Told By President Kim Il Sung

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Regarding education, the training of native cadres, as the most important of all national affairs since it has a bearing on the destiny of the country and nation, Comrade Kim Il Sung had the university built as a priority even in the difficult and complex situation that prevailed after the country's liberation. The founding of Kim Il Sung University marked the beginning of a new history of Juche-based and people-oriented higher education for training the people's sons and daughters into dependable pillars of a new Korea, into native cadres, and it opened broad prospects for building a prosperous and independent people's state by relying on our native cadres."

The Juche-oriented stand of President Kim Il Sung who successfully solved the problem of native cadres, which had been so difficult since the first period of building a new Korea, can be found in the story about "mother hen" and "breeder hen" told to a Head of State.

When he met Pakistani Prime Minister on a visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on December 30, Juche 82(1993), he gave detailed explanations on the successes and experiences gained in the socialist construction of the DPRK.

He said that, there were only 12 technicians who graduated from an institute of technology in our country just after national liberation, which meant that there were only 1 technician per 700000 population at that time. He also mentioned that we had brought up 1.6 million intellectuals(at that time) with those 12 technicians as "mother hen" and "breeder hen", and that there was more than 1 intellectual per 12 people in our country, so the rate of intellectuals was higher than the other countries.

He continued to say that we had enforced universal 11-year free compulsory education(at that time) with the aim of intellectualizing all members of society, and that the state gave stipends to students of universities and colleges, and that all the nurseries and kindergartens were run at the expense of the state and society.

On hearing the teachings of President Kim Il Sung who solved the issue of training native cadres from the Juche-oriented standpoint, the Prime Minister looked at him with boundless reverence, deeply realizing that the present day of Korea with over a million intellectuals was the fruition of the outstanding leadership of the President who led the revolution and construction independently from the Juche-oriented standpoint.

The DPRK is vigorously advancing and making a leap forward toward the building of a powerful socialist country today.

This is a brilliant fruition of the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK for implementing the Juche-Oriented educational policy.
