In Juche 102(2013), the meaningful year which marked the 60th anniversary of the universal free medical care system, the respected General Secretary saw to it that the Okryu Children's Hospital and the Ryugyong Dental Hospital equipped with modern medical facilities were newly built and inaugurated.
On July 16, Juche 102(2013), despite the unusually bad weather of the rainy season with a pouring rain and strong wind that started from the morning, the General Secretary inspected the rugged construction site.
At that time, officials were planning to equip the children's hospital with top-quality medical appliances and fixtures as it was being built under the great care of the General Secretary. However, they could not but consider the purchase of some advanced medical appliances, because the facilities that comprehensively diagnose diseases using cutting-edge technologies were too expensive.
In consideration of the country's actual situation, they decided to provide the advanced medical facilities in two steps and the relevant unit reckoned that the diagnosis of some diseases of children to be treated at the hospital were to be made at the Breast Tumour Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and receive treatment at the children's hospital.
As it weighed on his mind, the General Secretary came to the rugged construction site despite the hard rain.
After acquainting himself with the provision of medical facilities in detail, he told an official to consult with the Ministry of Public Health from the next day and report the facilities that could not be provided by the ministry, and earnestly said that there was nothing to spare for the children's hospital which is a gift to the Korean children. He went on to say that the preparations should be made scrupulously from then for furnishing the hospital in a modern style and operating it properly while stepping up the construction work in a qualitative way.
Since the children's hospital is a comprehensive healthcare base for the children, it should be equipped with advanced medical facilities at any cost, he said, adding he would provide the advanced facilities to be installed at the hospital and he felt relieved at the thought that the problem of advanced medical facilities for the children was solved.
The history of love made by the President and the Chairman, who glorified the socialist healthcare system as a popular medical system which is the best in the world by prioritizing the life and health of the people rather than any economic calculations, is now being carried forward by the respected General Secretary, who made painstaking efforts for a new modern hospital as he came to the construction site on a rainy day. Therefore, the Korean people are truly the happiest people in the world.
On the occasion of the party founding anniversary, several months after his inspection, the inaugural ceremonies of the Okryu Children's Hospital and the Ryugyong Dental Hospital were held in splendor.
The two hospitals were already popular only after a few days and, whenever there was a patient, it was the most common question to ask them if they have been to the hospitals which have the top-quality medical facilities and also the kindest medical workers.
The Okryu Children's Hospital and the Ryugyong Dental Hospital became the first destinations of the parents whose children got sick and those with dental disease.
On March 21, Juche 103(2014), the General Secretary visited the children's hospital again and deeply cared for the operation of the hospital and took necessary measures.
He beamed and stroked children as he was so pleased to meet citizens and children who were enjoying the benefits of the socialist healthcare system, and repeatedly told officials of the hospital to pay much attention to the treatment of children.
There are many more stories about the warm care of the General Secretary for the promotion of the people's health.
The General Secretary said that though specialized hospitals like the ophthalmic hospital and dental hospital and a children's hospital were recently built in a modern fashion in Pyongyang, they are not enough and they are like some grains of sand in a big mountain as compared to the lofty ideal and ambition of the Party.
He suggested that the Pyongyang General Hospital was built in an excellent location, saying the President and the Chairman would be the most pleased if they knew that a modern general hospital for the people was to be built in a grand scale and the people, young and old, would also be very happy.
He went to the ground-breaking ceremony of the Pyongyang General Hospital construction and said the hospital which, despite the manifold difficulties and hardships, would rise high in the centre of the capital, would be a structure that not only demonstrated the true spirit of the country as it advances vigorously towards a better future by frustrating with good humour the cruel sanctions and blockade imposed by hostile forces, but also highlighted the constancy of our revolution. Then, he called on the whole population to strive hard, by truly devoting their sweat and blood, for the honorable and worthwhile construction project and for the sake of the valuable people, and build on the very spot a wonderful hospital for the people that would be the envy of the world.
The General Secretary saw to it that the 14th Enlarged Meeting of the Political Bureau of the Seventh Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea discussed as the second agenda item the issue of speeding up the construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital and taking measures to provide personnel, materials and technology needed for medical service, and took powerful state measures for quickly solving the problems arising in successfully completing the hospital to such a world standard as to provide the people with the most advanced medical service, and specified tasks to be tackled by the sectors in charge of execution, material supply and preparations for operation.
The Munsu area will turn into a more splendid place when the modern Pyongyang General Hospital is completed under the care of the Party.
Indeed, the modern healthcare facilities in the Munsu area are the epitome of the ardent love for the people of the respected General Secretary who spares nothing for the promotion of the people health.
As the Korean people uphold as their great father the General Secretary who has the noblest view on the people and vigorously goes on the journey of selfless devotion to the people, the prospect of building a powerful socialist country is bright and the people will enjoy endless happiness.
