Our government has established the advanced preventive medical system in the country. Our socialist system does not spare state investment to provide the most favorable conditions and take all positive measures for the betterment of people's living and the improvement of their health. Our government rationally distributes inhabited area, production enterprises and sanitary and public service facilities on the principle of preserving environment and providing health.
Our government has also established the popular public health system in the country.
Thanks to the state hygiene administration and inspection system and public health system, the hygienic status of the country has been improved and the undertaking to prevent and wipe out infectious diseases is carried on under the unified control of the state.
Our government has established the public health system even in province, city and county and rationally distributed public health institutions across the country so as to effectively wage an infectious disease control/prevention campaign. County public health institution constantly gets health information in its area and conducts hygiene education work in a planned way. On the basis of powerful health system neatly built up from central to the lowest level, Ministry of Public Health(MoPH) is conducting rapid response to unexpected events. In case of any unusual disease occurrence or suspected outbreaks reported, there is a whole network of rapid response teams from national to county.
Realizing the need for building high capacity in the field of epidemiology to deal with outbreaks of common communicable diseases and that of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, the Ministry of Public Health(MoPH) is interested in seting up its own Field Epidemiology Training Programme(FETP). MoPH could be seen as training and service programme in applied epidemiology and public health that builds public health system capacity in line with the international FETP. This programme will also strengthen the skill of the health sector officials, managers and workers.
Coordination(advisory) committee started FETP in 2016. Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) basic course is for district health management and rapid response teams and overall course goal is to enhance the capabilities of District Health Management Teams responsible for outbreak detection, investigation and response, while promoting communication and collaboration between team members according to IHR (2005) core capacities. It looks like the course designing is planned for 3 months short course - but the contents and curriculum looks like for 2 years course. The content has widely used the CDC- EIS modules, which is designed for 2 years course.
We will make every effort to implement our Party's policy of preventive medicine by further conducting the research work about the scientific and technological problems arising in the field.
