"Girls of Wild Flower" Born under Care of Great Sun

 2021.9.23.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said as follows.

"General Kim Jong Il was a great leader, a peerless patriot and the benevolent father of our people, who devoted his all solely to the country's prosperity and the people's happiness with absolute loyalty to President Kim Il Sung and warm affection for his country and people."

Still fresh in our memories is the story about loving care shown by him for "girls of wild flower" about scores of years ago.

It was June 22, Juche 85 (1996).

That day was the 44th anniversary of the field guidance to a unit of the Korean People's Army by the great leader Kim Il Sung and the great General Kim Jong Il during the past Fatherland Liberation War.

The then 11-year old girl Kim Myong Hui, together with her younger sister and her neighboring friend, picked wild flowers and made small bundles just as they used to every year. Early that day they visited a monument to the field guidance by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to put the bundles of wild flowers and pay respects. After school in the morning they again visited the monument to clean it.

At that time they spotted some cars at some distance running toward the monument.

Thinking that officials were coming to visit the monument on the occasion of the anniversary of field guidance by the leaders, they stayed away in the nearby woods.

The cars stopped and, to their surprise, the great General, whom they wished to meet day and night, came out of a car. They felt earnest feelings to run towards him but they hesitated, thinking they might take his precious time. Just thinking it a great fortune to see him within a short distance, they hoped that the happy moment would continue as long as possible.

Approaching the monument, the great General said with deep emotion that it was the 44th anniversary since the great Kim Il Sung provided field guidance to the area. Noticing bundles of the wild field flowers, he, so surprised to see fresh flowers in the uninhabited area, said that somebody put the bundles of wild flowers at the monument on the anniversary.

Hardly taking his eyes off the flowers, the General said that growing stronger in the minds of the soldiers of the People's Army and our people including youth and students are deep yearnings for the fatherly leader as they were grown up under the care of the leader, adding that they pray for the immortality of the leader with the purest minds.

The great General was deeply thoughtful of the truthful minds of people for a while and at the same time the three girls had the immense happiness of seeing him in a very short distance.

Those minutes were unforgettable moments that eloquently showed what deep feelings between the leader and people are like indeed.

There are a number of countries in the world but no country records such precedent for the impressive moments.

Informed that it was little girls that put those flowers a few days later, the great General, immensely pleased, said that his thought was right, adding that they were daughters of ordinary workers and they were really admirable children. He instructed the officials to send gifts to them and even made a plane fly to carry those gifts to them as quickly as possible.

It was not all. Those three girls were brought to Pyongyang where they had the greatest benefits of staying in the city for a month visiting various places. They were also invited to several talk shows and New Year's celebrations, and Kim Myong Hui was conferred Kim Il Sung Children Honor Prize, the highest prize for the Korean Children's Union members.

Thanks to such loving care and benevolence, they were known all over the country as "girls of wild flower".

On January 17, Juche 92 (2003), the great General personally visited the unit where Kim Myong Hui was doing military service despite bitter cold.

Looking around several places of the unit including the monument to the field guidance by the fatherly leader Kim Il Sung and a room for education in revolutionary history of leaders, he got firsthand information on the military training and life of soldiers in detail and called Kim Myong Hui close to him.

Kim Myong Hui could not say proper words of greetings as tears welled up in her eyes, though she made up her mind to give thanks to the General as she had grown up under his particular loving care since she was 11 years old.

Looking fondly at her, he told the officials that she was the girl who placed a bundle of wild flowers before the monument to the field guidance by Kim Il Sung in a military unit some years ago. Saying that he was really glad to meet her wearing a military uniform, he held her hands warmly.

With a smile of satisfaction on his face as if meeting his own biological daughter in years, he emotionally looked back on that day several years ago.

He said that he couldn't help tears lingering in his eyes with stronger yearnings for the President when he saw the bundles of just simple field flowers, not fabulous bouquets, lying at the monument standing at the infrequent place, not within easy reach. He continued that then he thought children might put those flowers, not adults, and at that thought tears surged to his eyes.

Before leaving the unit, he encouraged her to do military service well to become an excellent soldier in the future.

Later on, he sent "Pomhyanggi" cosmetics and valuable tonics to her, caring for her health.

The annals of our revolution record numberless legendary stories about pure and unbreakable unity and cohesion in which the Party trusts the people and people follow the mother Party only with single mind.

The typical examples include the peasant in Popdong during the fierce Fatherland Liberation War, Sin Pho Hyang in Rakwon, the woman in Thaesong-ri during postwar rehabilitation period and the road administrator in Kubong Pass in Jagang Province.

Enshrined deep in the memories of our people are their stories though they did not perform world-startling feats nor they were heroes who blocked the enemy pillbox with their chests.

There lies in them the genuine truth about the invincible might of our revolution characterized by the unbreakable ties between the leader and people.

Indeed, the great General was the eternal sun, who embraced all the soldiers and people across the country and brought them up.
