The large contingent of young people is a reliable support on which our Party depends any time on the way to defend the Party's cause, the cause of socialism and make a victorious advance of it.
The large contingent of young people is a solid support to the WPK at any time. It means that the young people are a strong fortress reliably guaranteeing its victorious advance in devotedly defending and realizing the cause of the WPK, the socialist cause. In other words, they are a powerful socio-political foundation that firmly supports the Party and the leader who is leading the socialist cause to victory.
Firstly, young people in the DPRK play the role of the main force in defending the cause of the Workers' Party of Korea, the cause of socialism, and staunchly defending the socialist country.
Defending the socialist country is a sacred work for safeguarding the cause of the Workers' Party of Korea and a struggle for protecting the future of young people as well as a work for defending the country and nation.
The socialist country is the cradle of happy life giving full play to the independent and creative life of the Korean people and the eternal home guaranteeing their hopeful future.
We can't think of today's happiness and rosy future of the people without the socialist country.
The imperialists have long maneuvered viciously to swallow up the socialist country, the socialist system which is the cradle of life and happiness of the Korean people and the youth.
The showdown between socialist Korea and the imperialists is just a confrontation of strength and the national defence is the main front and lifeline of the Korean revolution decisive of the existence of the country, nation and socialism.
But the main force responsible for the main front of the Korean revolution, the most vital line, is none other than the vigorous youth.
It is a truth and bitter lesson taught by history that when young people love arms, the country will be strong and prosperous, but if they turn away from arms, socialism will collapse and the future will be lost.
Today the Korean youth play the role of the main force defending the Party, the revolution, the socialist system and the people with arms and lives from the imperialist aggression on all fronts of defending the country.
They love arms and regard national defence as the highest honor and greatest patriotism. They bravely rush to the post for national defence and glorify their precious youth in the van of upholding the leadership of the WPK. So the defence line of Juche Korea is firmly defended and the cause of the WPK is steadily guaranteed by force of arms.
With them who are reliably defending the lifeline of the Korean revolution, the socialist system can be reliably defended despite any aggressive moves of the enemy.
Secondly, they play the role of scouts and shock force making a breakthrough in the drive for building a powerful socialist country realizing the idea and intention of the Party.
It is the main task of the WPK at present to build a socialist power.

They are the vanguard and shock brigade that make a breakthrough in the advance by carrying out the most difficult and arduous tasks entrusted to them by the Party on all major fronts of socialist construction. They are good-tempered with the fighting spirit and ambition. They aspire to the new, love justice and truth and do what they are determined to do braving any sacrifice. Thus, they become the most enterprising and energetic unit in the struggle to reform society and conquer nature and play an active and vanguard role in the revolution and construction.
Today they are displaying their unique mental power in the struggle to uphold the plan of the building unfolded by the great Party Central Committee as a do-or-die practice.
Since the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, many of them have produced true examples of virtues and traits of volunteering to work in difficult and labor-consuming fields and cultivating socialist flower gardens in a beautiful way. They are also responding before others to the present era demanding new innovations, bold creation and constant progress in pioneering new technology and creating new culture. Depending on their struggle of making breakthroughs in advance at posts and workplaces and raising the hot wind of breaking new standards and records, the future is coming nearer.
It is the great pride and honor of the Party and the Korean people to have a large contingent of revolutionary young people who are loyal to the call of the country, sincere to the society and collective and devote themselves to the future in present world, whereas the young generation of any other society are merely seeking promotion and pleasure. With our youth who are advancing vigorously along the straight course of the Korean revolution indicated by the Party Central Committee, socialist Korea is dynamically advancing despite all trials and difficulties.
Like this, they volunteer to work in the most difficult and arduous front of socialist construction and give full play to the indomitable fighting spirit in the van, thus steadily advancing the cause of building the socialist power, the WPK planned.
Today the Korean youth are demonstrating the honor of a pioneer in defending and glorifying socialism true to the idea and cause of the Party. They are the main force of defending the country, the shock brigade in building a powerful socialist country. Many of them have become true examples of beautiful virtues and traits in cultivating the socialist flower garden. They are the fortress and shield that defend the Party Central Committee with their lives. They value state affairs more than domestic chores and think first of society and collective. It is the greatest pride of the Party and people for having a large contingent of such young people.
