After liberation of the country, the President paid deep attention to the issue of women and founded the Women's Union before other working people's organizations.
On July 30, Juche 35(1946), he promulgated the Law on Sex Equality for the first time in history, thus bringing about the epoch-making change in the position of our women who had lived in the deprivation of political rights and social inequality for many years.
Thanks to the law, Korean women freed from personal subordination and inequality of the sexes that was under way for thousands of years, and they came to have the equal rights to men in all fields, including political, the economic and cultural life as well as family life.
There is the March 8 International Women's Day in the world, but no day to commemorate the promulgation of the Law on Sex Equality.
This very fact, enacting a law on sex equality which cannot be found in any other country shows how great our President was.

In the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, Korean women waged a bloody struggle for the liberation of the country, and in the fierce Fatherland Liberation War they took part in the decisive battles to defend the country from the imperialist aggression in the front and the rear, thus displaying their matchless bravery and sacrifice. They performed brilliant feats in the struggle to build and advance socialism victoriously and build a powerful socialist nation with ardent patriotism. All the revolutionary gains and monumental edifices of eternal value in the country are permeated with the precious blood and sweat of Korean women. They, who are naive and faithful, have fully displayed the noble traits and devoted fighting spirit dedicating their all to the society, the collective and revolutionary comrades and added glory to the great socialist family.
No women in the world have achieved such proud feats in their efforts for the prosperity of the nation, on the worthwhile road of the revolution under the wise leadership and warm care of the Party and the leader like our women.
