The 11th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea reviewed with pride the key achievements made in 2024 in one year of struggle and change and noted that another unprecedented record was witnessed in the history of the people-first politics of the WPK.
Looking back on the stirring year 2024, the General Secretary shed tears of gratitude for his devoted efforts for the people across the country.
In July 2024, heavy rain and flood on the northwestern side of the country posed a catastrophic danger to the lives of the inhabitants of the local areas. The respected General Secretary who is willing to face any danger for the beloved Korean people and the future, personally led the rescue operation to defend the life and security of the people.
A touching story was told about the warm loving care of the respected General Secretary who reorganized reconnaissance flights many times in the areas even after the rescue of inhabitants was finished.
The respected General Secretary personally acquainted himself with the dangerous flooded area in a small boat and then he convened an emergency enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee on the spot to organize a campaign for providing the suffering people with new homes as soon as possible.
He visited the dwelling tents of the flood victims disregarding the scorching heat of midsummer and showed warm loving care for them and took a special measure to call all the people who suffered from flood including children, students and aged people to Pyongyang.
This was a courageous decision which could be made only by the General Secretary-the great father of the socialist family who valued every one of our people as his own flesh and blood and devotedly took care of them.
Under the blessing of the respected General Secretary, over 13 000 inhabitants and students from the flood-stricken area enjoyed boundless glory and happiness, enjoying privileges in the capital city.
The respected General Secretary personally gave a welcome speech to the lodging quarters of the flood victims who arrived in Pyongyang and made a menu for their meals. He even embraced the children in new clothes lending an ear to their whispers. The Korean people wept tears over the noble image of their dear father who was even closer and dearer during the hardships.
The life of the flood victims and students during their 130-day stay in Pyongyang was a precious fruition of the great devotion of the General Secretary who regarded the selfless and devoted service to the people as the fundamental part of politics and noble mission and made sure that they would sit in the new cradle of civilization, overcoming manifold hardships. The fatherly love and care include provision of new clothes, shoes, bags, and even trips to famous mountains including Mt. Kumgang, Mt. Myohyang and Mt. Kuwol as well as trips to cultural recreational grounds like Yangdok Hot Spring resort.
With the passing days of his great devotion, the flood-stricken areas of North Phyongan, Jagang and Ryanggang provinces, which suffered severe natural disasters, were face-lifted with ideal "rural cultural cities" and fairyland villages, which were rich in modern civilization, and the flood-stricken people could move into their new houses amid the blessings of the whole country.
Looking at the flood victims in their wonderful new houses dancing in great pleasure and shouting "Long live the Workers' Party of Korea!" at the top of their voices, a simple truth is engraved in all the Korean people's hearts.
It was the conviction that they were not afraid of any misfortune and that hardship and disaster would surely turn into happiness and glory as long as they had the bosom of their great home, the Party's great family, all of which were brothers and sisters.
The new house-building event in the northwestern corner of the country with the end of 2024 is the clarification of the eternal socialist fairyland and people-first principle with the laughter of the people who are leading the most valuable and happy life in the world, setting the address of life under the red flag of the Workers' Party of Korea which harbors the destiny of the people.
