The War Won by Dint of Love

On the occasion of the Victorious Day-July 27, which has been repeated more than 70 times in the history of our fatherland, the Korean people recollect with deep emotion the immortal war-victory exploits of President Kim Il Sung who created the brilliant victorious tradition.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"To his enemies, Comrade Kim Il Sung was the tiger of Mt Paektu, but to his men and people, he was a kindly and dear father."

The factors determining the victory of war have been discussed in many ways.

The commander's strategy and leadership, the bravery of soldiers, the superiority of weapons and equipment...

During the Fatherland Liberation War, a western journalist wrote in his article that he was surprised by the matchless self-sacrificing spirit and heroism displayed by the soldiers of the Korean People's Army in the Korean War, adding that in order to realize the truth that the mental strength of man is more powerful than any military and technical means, they should visit the battlefield.

Then, what is the source of the matchless self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism displayed by them that surprised the world?

In the days of the war when gunfire roared, the President personally went to the forefront, opened up ever-victorious strategy and took warm care of the life of the soldiers with paternal affection.

Human history records the history of wars and many anecdotes about famous generals who distinguished themselves in those wars, but there was no peerless brilliant commander like him who led to victories with ardent love and affection for the soldiers and people in the history.

One day in August 1951 when the war was at its height, he personally wore winter shoes, which are to be supplied to the soldiers, in the boiling heat of midsummer for several days and found that they could easily get wet due to low rubber rims. He took a benevolent measure to make cotton-padded shoes with higher rubber rims and supply them to the soldiers.

Greatly concerned about the diet of the soldiers of Hill 1211, he sent beans so that the soldiers could grow bean sprouts and make bean curd. He also sent mackerel to them with instructions for storage measures and cooking methods.

One day when the battle became fierce and the problem of supporting the front was tense, he called a commanding officer and told him that the combatants on the front would think about their parents, wives and homeland in the rear and let the people write letters to the front. He then gave an official the autograph credentials and car for the work.

And when the official arrived at the Supreme Headquarters with tens of thousands of letters in a few days, he said with pleasure that the letters would exercise greater strength than hundreds of thousands of tons of bombs and made sure that they were sent to the soldiers immediately.

One day, when seeing chestnuts ripening in the trees, he thought of the soldiers on the front and ensured that each one of his personal guards gathered one doe(Korean measurement unit) of chestnuts everyday and that they were sent to those on the hill.

His warm love, permeated in every letter and each chestnut, greatly encouraged the soldiers to display matchless bravery and heroism.

The love and affection for the soldiers also lies in the legendary stories about the rest home at the front built during wartime and the unprecedented operation for rescuing a family of a soldier.

Thanks to his warm love and affection, they could sing and dance optimistic of victory and devote their lives without hesitation to defending the country despite the burning flames without a single tree.

Indeed, he was the father of the soldiers before the Supreme Commander, and the Fatherland Liberation War was an unprecedented war which was won by dint of warm love for and trust in the soldiers and people and his Juche-oriented military idea, superb strategy and tactics and outstanding military leadership.
