5. Great Army-People Unity

The great army-people unity is the foundation of socialist Korea and proud national traits carried forward year after year with the history of Juche Korea.

As a tree with strong roots has strong vitality, socialism of Korea based on the great army-people unity is always invincible. Great army-people unity is the source of the invincible strength of Korean-style socialism.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"The great army-people unity is a sure guarantee for defending the country and the revolution, and a strong propellant for building a powerful socialist country."

The solidarity between the army and people, the great army-people unity is a precious revolutionary legacy handed down by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the greatest wealth of Juche Korea that is beyond comparison. The great army-people unity of the DPRK is the perfect one in which the people and service personnel of the People's Army have been firmly connected morally and faithfully and in family ties and have achieved unity in the ideological and fighting spirits.

Great army-people unity is a precious tradition of the Korean revolution.

The whole course of the Korean revolution is a proud history in which the people and service personnel have created an immortal heroic epic together with one mind and purpose, sharing fate.

"As fish cannot live without water, so the guerrillas cannot live without the people." The spirit of this slogan resounded high in the anti-Japanese battlefields has been carried forward steadily through generations. The kinship between the Korean people and the service personnel of the People's Army were further consolidated in the days of the war through showers of bullets and shells and steadily carried forward in the vigorous struggle for defending the country and building socialism. The significant events recorded in every page of the Korean revolution and monumental edifices in the era of the Workers' Party of Korea built on this land are associated with the feats performed by the Korean people and service personnel who achieved perfect unity in their ideological and fighting spirits and devotedly implemented the Party's policies. The great army-people unity is an ever-victorious treasured sword of our revolution. The might of the great army-people unity is precisely the might of Korean-style socialism.

The history of socialist Korea can be called the one of triumphs of the great army-people unity.

The President wrote in his reminiscences "With the Century" that the young DPRK could defeat the "strongest enemy" on the earth because all our army and people fought in unity where as the enemy mobilized only military force itself.

One day, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that it is the invariable traditional relations of the Korean People's Army and the people whereby they both laugh and share joy together, that the arteries of the organism can be hardened but there can be no slight gap and distrust in the kinship between the Korean People's Army and the people. He added that this is the intention and will of the President and, at the same time, his philosophy and motto.

The Korean people could reliably defend the sovereignty, right to existence and development of the country and nation in the protracted and fierce struggle for defending the country by winning victory after victory, starting from the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to defeat the gangster-like Japanese imperialists and the fierce Fatherland Liberation War of the 1950s. This was attributable to the united strength of the people and service personnel rallied close around the Party and the leader.

The great army-people unity is the dignity of socialism and victory. This is the iron truth taught by the history of the struggle of the Korean revolution.

The great army-people unity serves as the motive force for performing ceaseless miracles and feats in socialist construction.

What the WPK believes most in the present struggle for building a powerful socialist country is the inexhaustible strength of the people and service personnel who have firmly achieved the unity in the ideological viewpoint and fighting spirit. The speed of socialist construction in the DPRK is the speed of a leap forward brought about by the united strength of the army and people.

The Korean people and service personnel performed eye-opening miracles and feats in building a powerful socialist country, building monumental edifices of lasting significance and carrying out the grand nature-remaking work shoulder to shoulder. The Korean people and service personnel built Masikryong Ski Resort, Mirim Riding Club, Munsu Water Park, Mirae Scientists Street, Sci-Tech Complex, Ryomyong Street, Jungphyong Vegetable Greenhouse Farm and Yangdok Hot Spring Resort with monumental creations to be proud of before the world, true to the grand plan of the Workers' Party of Korea in the recent period. And they rehabilitated Rason area and North and South Hamgyong Provinces to eradicate the disaster brought by nature in a short period of time. The reality clearly shows that there is no limit to the might displayed by the great army-people unity.

The hostile forces are now resorting to every means and method to check the advance of socialist Korea. However, no moves can stop the revolutionary advance of Juche Korea even a moment, in which the people and service personnel of the People's Army are firmly united with one mind and intention.

The great army-people unity is the fundamental source of powerfully demonstrating the invincibility of Korean-style socialism based on revolutionary comradeship.

The people and service personnel of the People's Army in Korea are comrades who share life and death on the road of supporting the Party, albeit at different revolutionary missions and posts. Korean-style socialism will grow stronger when the comradely unity of the people and service personnel for each other is firmly realized in the practical struggle to realize the Party's plan and determination.

Today the relationship between the Korean people and the service personnel of the People's Army is being developed into the relations of blood and affection, the genuine comradeship of sharing life and death on the road of revolution. The beautiful deeds of a woman who has devoted herself to the service personnel for more than 10 years and the commendable deeds of the service personnel who devoted their sincerity to the people and saved their lives and property by devoting their lives to them under the uplifted slogan "Let us help people!" clearly show how strong and noble the blood ties between the people and the service personnel are in the DPRK. The unity of society is further strengthened by the warm love of the army and people taking care of each other.

The reality, whereby the monumental edifices erected in all parts of this land are widely called with the title "The Army and the People" and such masterpieces as "Soldiers Hear Paddy Sways", "Arirang of Army-People Unity", "Let's Sing of Army-People Unity" and "Let's Come First" widely sung wherever the army-people cooperative operations are waged eloquently, shows the strong spirit of socialist Korea bringing earlier a bright future by dint of the great army-people unity.

Looking round the world, every country has its people and army. But there is no country like Korea in which the army and people share the destiny of life and death as a family.

The great army-people unity is, indeed, a proud tradition of the Korean revolution, a national custom peculiar to Juche Korea and a bulwark supporting the cause of socialism.

The Korean people and service personnel will surely hasten the great victory in building a powerful socialist country by dint of the great army-people unity provided by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and further consolidated by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
