Attaching Importance to Education, Science and Technology and Public Health and Directing Efforts to their Development are the Consistent Policy of the DPRK

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"It is the consistent policy of the government of the Republic to attach importance to education, science and technology, and public health, and to direct efforts to their development."

The DPRK set a grand goal of national prosperity and is dynamically waging a struggle for its realization. It has set it as its consistent policy to attach importance to education, science and technology and public health and directs efforts to their development and put due efforts into its implementation.

Today, in the era of science and technology and the era of knowledge economy, science and education are the basis of state building and an important indicator in deciding national power.

Only when you have high scientific and technological strength and educational level, can you build a powerful state and defend and add lustre to the sovereignty and dignity of the country. Apart from the development of education and science and technology, there will be no increase of the strength of self-reliance and self-development to successfully carve out our way in the face of the severe tempest and no training of talents to shoulder the future of the country and revolution. The more the times develop and the higher the level of civilization gets, the more the public interest in education and science and technology is growing and the more brisk efforts are made to give importance to and develop them.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, putting forward the issue of modernizing the educational and scientific and technological sectors and improving their quality as an important and strategic issue related to the future of the state, discussed it at the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee and other important Party meetings and set it as the consistent policy of the DPRK to attach importance to the work and direct efforts to their development.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un provided important guidelines for developing education and science in many immortal works such as "Let Us Glorify Ours as a Country of Education, a Talented Nation through a Revolution in Education in the New Century", "On Improving Secondary General Education" and "Let Us Leap Higher and Faster on the Steed of Science and Technology for the Prosperity of the Socialist Country and the Happiness of the People".

The issues of attaching importance to and developing education and science have always been discussed as important policy tasks at the 7th Congress, the 8th Congress and the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee. In these meetings, he set forth many related ideas like the idea that talents and science and technology are the main strategic resources and weapons for bringing about a great leap forward in socialist construction, the idea that the strategy for talents and the strategy for scientific and technological development are the core strategy of the DPRK government, the idea of strengthening the educational foundations of the country, the idea of making education a reliable one to entrust the future of the country and the idea of leading and promoting the economic development of the country by the rising of scientific community. And these ideas are being pushed forward on a nationwide scale.

Looking round the completed Pyongyang General Hospital in February, 2025, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that public health is also an important element and indicator of national power and that the role of the public health sector is more important in the man-centered socialist society of the DPRK.

A country's prosperity and development are firmly guaranteed by its public health which is directly related to the promotion of the health of every citizen. It is needless to say any greatness or development of a country or even the superiority of its system which has no will and ability to take responsibility for the life and health of its people.

The DPRK has set it as the top priority of the Party and the government to make the modernized and advanced public health system as well as to ensure institutional health promotion of the popular masses, masters of the state and society, and steadily push ahead with the most superior people-oriented public health policies.

Our Party's plan for the modernization of public health is to build the first-class general hospital in the capital city, which can be the pivot and centre of the public health sector, to spread its technology, experience and example across the country and, at the same time, build modern hospitals in all cities and counties to bring the bases for advanced medical services closest to the people as possible and make everyone enjoy the benefits of modern medicine with ease.

The DPRK set 2025 as the first year of the public health revolution and is leading the gigantic transformation struggle to promote the overall public health of the country.
