President
President
"We are not making a revolution for anything else. We are doing it for the sake of our parents and brothers, for our country and people. He who ardently loves his parents and brothers and home can have fervent love of his country."
On September 11th, Juche 76(1987), President happened to see idle patches of land at the foot of a mountain in the area where a unit was deployed. He gave the unit the task to carry out their combat duty and do farming as subsidiary work, thus instilling patriotism into them.
Upholding his instructions, the unit mobilized its main forces to find new farmable land in the surrounding area, thus acquiring about 10 Jongbos of new farmland and turning them into terraced fields in a short time.
After receiving the report, the President gave officers and soldiers of the unit the words of thanks and the task to continue farming as subsidiary work.
The soldiers turned out in a preparation to do farming, promising to give pleasure to the President by reaping rich crops in the new land. But they had difficulties because of water shortage. Upon hearing this, the President sent them a set of high-pressure water pumps, motors, sprinklers, high-pressure hoses and cast-iron pipes, saying it was necessary to have an irrigation system in terraced fields farming.
Encouraged by this great love and care, they reaped a rich harvest of maize, radishes, cabbage and so on through diligent farming in a new cultivated terraced fields and had an honor of showing their harvest to the President.
The President learned himself of the per-Jongbo yield of maize, cabbage and radish and said with satisfaction that their farming was successful and that if all people farmed as well as the soldiers did, we could be richer even with existing land.
Encouraged by his words, the soldiers made redoubled efforts to bring greater joy to the President, shedding tears of joy and pleasure.
The soldiers of the unit waged an active competition between squads, platoons and companies and learnt that genuine patriotism originated from their love for every blade of grass, every tree and every inch of this land. They also learned that feeling of love led them to love their own parents and homeland and strive to implement the President's idea and Party's policy.
Thanks to the President, the spirit of patriotism was instilled into the soldiers' hearts and this led to rich harvest in subsidiary farming.
And in 1991, the soldiers of the unit produced 10.6 tons of maize per Jongbo in the gravelly fields of the mountain and brought another pleasure to the President who gave them a great trust to carry out farming even more brilliantly.
The service personnel of the KPA worked heart and soul to repay the great trust of the President, and this led to the successful combat and political training and the implementation of military tasks.
The reason he instilled a patriotic spirit into soldiers is that he wanted them to be true revolutionaries and patriots who embodied revolutionary fighting spirit and lifestyle of revolutionary forerunners, carrying out their revolutionary tradition.
Indeed, the President was a great teacher who trained the service personnel of the KPA to be true patriots who took loving care of every blade of grass, every tree and every inch of land of the country.
