A Hymn of Praise to the Great Man Resounded in the Sky of Africa

 2024.9.6.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The internationalist assistance given by our leader Comrade Kim Il Sung has reached not only the neighbouring countries but also every other part in the world, including an island country in the far-away Latin America, the Mediterranean countries and the African countries that freed themselves from colonial yoke and have just embarked on the road of building a new society."

With the noble spirit of internationalism, President Kim Il Sung gave material and moral support to the building of a new society in many developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Thanks to the President's noble internationalist support real successes were made in the building of an independent national economy in many developing countries and this was a great contribution to accomplishing the cause of global independence.

Therefore, progressive mankind of the world sang songs of thanks and reverence in praise of President Kim Il Sung who performed immortal exploits for the cause of global independence, and the song resounded in every continent.

The hymn of praising the great man, reflecting boundless gratitude for the noble internationalist obligation of the President, reverberated in Mozambique, too, which lies long from north to south on the shore of the Indian Ocean in the southeast of Africa.

Mozambique, which had been a complete colony of Portugal since 1700, extricated itself from colonial status spanning over hundreds of years through a protracted struggle for and gained independence on June 25, 1975.

Then the independent Mozambicans were faced with the task of eradicating the aftereffects of colonial rule and building a new society.

But too many obstacles and difficulties stood on the way to a new society for the Mozambican people.

The biggest obstacle was the shortage of technicians who would shoulder the building of a new society owing to the consequences of colonial rule.

In fact, in the first period of building a new society, Mozambique had invited technicians and experts from some countries to develop various fields including industry, agriculture, military, education and public health.

These countries, however, attached a number of political strings to their economic aid and demanded that a fairly high salary must be provided for the technicians and experts.

Paying a large amount of money for thousands of foreign technicians and experts was hard for Mozambique, which was still backward in economy. However, President Kim Il Sung fully understood their difficult situations and saw to it that the DPRK gave assistance to the agricultural sector of Mozambique without any strings attached. At that time agriculture formed the main part of Mozambican economy and accounted for nearly half of the gross national product.

In July Juche 73 (1984), he learned from the DPR Korea Extraordinary Ambassador to Mozambique about how much the technicians of the DPR Korea staying in Mozambique were paid, and he said that the technicians in Mozambique should find it satisfying to get enough money to for rice and cigarettes. He continued to say that it was not because their technical level was low, but we should sincerely help Mozambique.

This represented the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung to enable the developing countries to lay foundations of an independent national economy as soon as possible, thus building an independent and sovereign state. True to his noble intention, Korean agro technicians and experts dispatched to this country did a lot more work than those from other countries even though they were paid a small amount of money, and helped Mozambique selflessly.

The agro technicians and experts dispatched to Gaza State applied the Juche farming method created by President Kim Il Sung in keeping with the actual conditions of the country, thus two years later yielding 6 tons of rice per hectare. Before that the agro technicians from other countries had yielded only 1.5-2 tons of rice per hectare even though they made efforts for several years. Korean agro technicians also reclaimed the jungles of Maingales swarming with crocodiles, snakes, lions and elephants thus turning it into a major granary of Mozambique.

On October 5, 1984 an inaugural ceremony of the Mozambique-Korea Friendship Maingalewa Irrigation Project, a symbol of the friendship between the two peoples of the DPRK and Mozambique, was grandly held.

President Samora Moises Marcel of Mozambique, who cut the tape at this significant ceremony, told excited masses with strong emotion that President Kim Il Sung, the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was a brother of the Mozambican people who had sincerely helped them since the days of the struggle for their national liberation and sang the song "Song of General Kim Il Sung" in Korean language.

That day the song "Song of General Kim Il Sung" led by President Samora Moises Marcel changed into chorus of all the people attending the inaugural ceremony and resounded far and wide in the sky of Mozambique.

Indeed, the song "Song of General Kim Il Sung" resounded in the sky of Mozambique was an eruption of the warm reverence of Mozambican people and other progressive mankind of the world for the peerlessly great man who rendered sincere internationalist support to the people of the developing countries trampled down and oppressed for a long time so that they could live independently in the new world of genuine independence.
