"Maanshan"-The Name which was Given to the Blanket

 2026.2.16.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Jong Il always cherished deep in his heart dear country and people."

The noble love of Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted everything to the people all his life is also expressed in the name of the blanket that our people use.

On March 31, 1984, Chairman personally had a look at over 10 kinds of prototype blankets made by workers of the Pakchon Silk Mill.

That day, he looked at blankets of different colors, including green, blue, beautiful and pink. He spoke highly of the skills and techniques of our working-class because they made better blankets than the sample.

Looking up to Chairman who was so pleased to provide the people with better blankets, the officials felt the tears welling in their eyes as they recalled the heartfelt story in the previous year.

That day Chairman showed the officials a sheet of blanket, which was made by overseas Koreans in foreign land with all their heart, wishing him good health.

Looking round the officials who were having a look at the blankets, Chairman said that it had been almost 50 years since the President covered the members of Maanshan Children's Corps with the blankets he used, but he was so hurting that he didn't provide our people with enough high-quality blankets. Then he continued that we had to make such a good blanket for the people.

Deeply moved by the warm love of Chairman for the people, the officials said they would make such blankets before April 15 next year.

Listening to their reply, Chairman said that they would succeed if they pictured that they would cover all the people across the country with the blanket the President had covered the members of the Maanshan Children's Corps. Then he said that they could use that blanket as a sample.

Despite their repeated requests that he should use that blanket full of desire of overseas Koreans, Chairman said that he was so grateful, but he would cover it with pleasure when we mass-produced the blankets and provided them to the people, repeatedly asking them to take them without worrying about him.

His warm-hearted words regarding the people's pleasure and happiness as his own brought tears to their eyes.

Thinking of the impressive story of that day, the officials asked Chairman to name the newly-made blanket.

After a moment's thought, he said that it would be good to name the newly-made blanket by the workers of the Pakchon Silk Mill "Maanshan".

What a benevolent father of the people who named a new blanket Maanshan which was regarded as a legend of great love to our people is.

"Maanshan", what a meaningful name it is.

The officials were so overwhelmed with the benevolence of Chairman who was giving the people the love and benevolence of the President who had given his own blanket to the members of the Children's Corps in Maanshan, who were shivering with cold.

"Maanshan" blanket was not a simple blanket but a symbol of warm love and affection of Chairman who warmly embraced all the people of this country.
