The Reason of a Thousand-ri Night's Journey

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Jong Il trusted his revolutionary comrades as he would do himself, loved them and lavished all his affection on them."

Chairman Kim Jong Il always paid deep attention to the work of the film art sector to lead them to make a lot of films as masterpieces and created revolutionary anecdotes of his warm love for people in those days.

Among them is the story about the Korean feature film "Workplace of Wife".

A car, left Changsong County, North Phyongan Province, was running at full speed towards a writing site of authors in the suburbs of Nampho City, accompanied by him at about 21:00 on May 23, 1970. Chairman Kim Jong Il was in it.

The Korean feature film "Workplace of Wife" (1970, Scenario by Kim Se Ryun) depicts a young saleswoman of a grocery who is making devoted efforts to supply fresh vegetables to the people all the year round, true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung to supply them with fresh vegetables.

The film showed that when the working people perform their duties with sincerity by displaying their activeness and creativity with a high sense of loyalty to him and a high sense of responsibility for their work, they can serve the people with credit and enjoy their respect and love. It showed a cheerful and optimistic life in the simple and concise story-line, without setting a negative line.

Chairman Kim Jong Il had been more concerned about guiding those people, who took part in making that film, to be genuine talents by taking warm care of them. But he set out on the night journey to congratulate them who gave joy to President Kim Il Sung, who was accompanied by him at that time.

He asked the driver to speed up, so the car hurried and arrived at the writing place at about two, next day.

Those authors were surprised to see him who had come all of sudden.

He warmly shook their hands and said that President Kim Il Sung was very pleased with the film "Workplace of Wife" and laughed several times. And he also said that that was the first time he laughed when he was watching a film.

Looking around the authors, who felt grateful and embarrassed, he said he came there to share this happiness with authors, directors and judges. He earnestly told them that all of them should study in depth the instructions President Kim Il Sung had given to them after watching the film "Workplace of Wife" and produce more good works.

He then warmly congratulated them on their success and set out on the journey.

Warm tears were shed in their eyes, seeing him off.

They were too immature to produce masterpieces that were in line with the plan and intention of the Party Central Committee, and they were deeply impressed by the intention of trusting them so deeply and highly praising them.
