The respected Comrade
"Comrade
The whole life of President
In the whole period of his great life he never tolerated any kind of privileges or special benefits for himself. He said that officials should always try to be under control of the people in order to devote themselves to the latter, and set noble examples.
On July 10, Juche 60(1971) he gave field guidance to Yaksu-ri, Changsong County. At that time, the construction of the conference hall, which started in the autumn of the previous year, was near to completion.
He stopped walking for a while, looked at the building under construction with an inquiring look on his face and asked an accompanying official for the building.
The official, who hesitated for a moment at his sudden question, told him about what the building was for.
As a matter of fact, the building was for holding conferences which would be presided by President
After the war, in order to carry out his grand plan to radically improve the living standards of the people in Changsong County and popularize its success throughout the country, he often visited that county in a remote and rugged area to discuss the problems having a tete-a-tete with ordinary workers and farmers, and he sometimes summoned officials in the capital and provinces to the meeting held in the county and presided over it.
In Changsong County, however, there was no building proper to hold the conference participated by President
Not only the officials but also the local people felt awfully sorry whenever they saw him presiding over the meeting at midsummer night under a lamp in the courtyard of the lodging quarters and giving instructions energetically, sometimes at the hall of culture.
Accordingly, the officials told him on several occasions that the conference hall should be built, but every time they proposed, he never allowed it saying that the money should be spent on improving people's living standard, not on the construction.
Entering the 1970s, the officials and the local people decided to put up a building where President
Having listened to the official, he reprimanded the officials severely asking what the large conference hall was for in that mountainous area.
The official plucked up courage and courteously asked him to allow the construction, saying the conference hall was needed in any case.
After listening to what the official had replied, he said nothing for a while. Then he blamed the official saying that what the people would say about the building. And he emphasized again that he did not need such privileges, and left the place with a heavy heart.
That evening he summoned again the official and said in a bright tone that the construction should be completed as soon as possible as it had already started. He said that the building should be handed over to the sanatorium, instead of refurbishing into a conference hall.
Looking at the official with deep emotion, he said in a quiet but earnest voice that people would not like the large and attractive conference hall. He also mentioned: We should always try to be under control of the people; the people are our strict teachers and genuine controllers; those who bear this principle in mind do not make mistakes in their work but if not, they make mistakes.
Listening to President
President
He defeated the two imperialist powers in one generation and built a people's paradise on this land, but he regarded himself as an ordinary person who was the same as other people and tried to be under the strict control of the people. This fact reflects his great personality.
Seeing the officials of the Party and administrative and economic organs on December 28, Juche 81(1992), he earnestly told the officials that they should share not only life and death but also good and bad with the people. What he stressed were that officials should not divorce themselves from the people and seek any privileges and special favours that they should always be with the masses of the people at all times and eat at the same table with them. He said that sharing good and bad with people should be made an inveterate habit to officials
Indeed, President
The noble idea "The people are my God" which was his lifelong motto is being successfully carried forward by the politics embodying the people-first policy of the respected Comrade
The DPRK is thoroughly maintaining and successfully carrying forward the great tradition of the people-first policy in all fields of the Party and state activities. It will shine before the world as the country where the people are masters of everything forever.
