Parental Affection Associated with Refined Salt

 2022.3.29.

Salt is one of the condiments essential for human life, and has a long history together with the evolution and development of mankind.

So many tales had been told associated with its preciousness.

However, no tale can be compared to that about Chairman Kim Jong Il, who saw to it that excellent salt factory was built to provide the soldiers with salt of the highest quality.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"General Kim Jong Il said that if there was an omnipotent entity in this world, it was the masses, not any god; it was his patriotic creed that the country exists because the people exist."

On May 9, 1998, Kim Jong Il visited a salt refining factory, built on the coast of the Kwangryang Bay on the West Sea of Korea.

Looking round the well-laid-out and tidy factory and at the white salt cascading, he expressed his satisfaction at the fact that an excellent condiment factory had been built.

As he entered the packaging workshop after visiting many places including the producing, packaging, storing and evaporation workshops, he felt the salt with his hand and had a taste of it, saying: We can now provide plenty of quality salt to the soldiers; they would be very pleased when they see the salt on their meal table; today is the day when my wish to provide the soldiers with quality salt came true.

Stressing that the factory was a very important one in serving the soldiers, he told the officials that they should operate the factory properly to produce a greater amount of quality and tasty salt.

Indeed, the white and fine salt is unthinkable separated from Chairman Kim Jong Il's warm love for the soldiers.

Several years before then, while inspecting an army unit on the front line, Kim Jong Il tasted the soy sauce, which the soldiers ate, and said that the soldiers should be provided with soy sauce of the highest quality.

After that, he spared no pains to solve the problem.

On this way, quality soy sauce, called "soy sauce for the army," were supplied to all the soldiers.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, always concerned about the improvement of the soldiers' dietary life, was firmly determined to have the soldiers provided with not only quality soy sauce but also the best salt.

In fact, salt that could be called fairly good had been supplied to the soldiers at that time, so no official had paid attention to this problem.

But, saying that the best salt should be supplied to the soldiers who are defending the country, Chairman Kim Jong Il discussed with the officials the way to solving the problem and studied materials related to salt.

One day he called the senior officers of Korean People's Army, and told them that a large-scale salt factory had to be built in order to provide the soldiers sufficient amounts of refined salt, and he selected the site of the factory and solved all the problems arising in building it.

As a result, a prototype of refined salt produced by the factory could be shown to him.

That day the officials said as a reflection of the earnest request and gratitude of the soldiers' parents across the country, "Thank you, great General."

As Kim Jong Il valued them as he would do his own kith and kin, the soldiers are now adding lustre to their military service with loyalty and feats.
