Feeling proud to be the citizens of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) which is the most prestigious, the Korean people are now speeding up their grand revolutionary march for the building of a powerful socialist nation under the leadership of the great Workers' Party of Korea that has traditionally won victory after victory.
An important part of the Koreans' pride in being citizens of the DPRK comes from the fact that they live in a genuine people's country. As it is the crystallization of the idea of "The people are my God," ours is literally a people's country. With a pride that no one else in the world could imagine, our people are accelerating their march courageously with great confidence in victory, working legendary miracles on their land.

Look back on the long history of human society, and you will be able to see that the masses of the people, the subject of history, due to not taking over the sovereign power and the means of production, were subjected to exploitation and oppression of the exploiting class that accounted for only a handful of society. It is true that the masses pushed the progress of history even in an exploitative society, but in most cases they had to bear the heavy burden of making history in compliance with the will of the exploiting class, instead of their own.
What the masses of the people wished for in an exploitative society was to live in the world free from exploitation and oppression even for a moment. For this reason, some people gave their own ideological delineation of an "ideal land", and others wished to live a happy life even in the "next world" committing their destiny to God. Still others put up resistance or uprisings individually or in groups against the exploiters and anti-popular systems, but what they got was nothing but ruthless crackdown by the exploiting class.
People from around the world were anxiously groping for a way to build a genuine people's country, which they sometimes thought as good as a daydream. At that time there arose a wonderland, giving them a great hope and courage—that was the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

During the arduous anti-Japanese struggle for the national liberation, he established a people's government in the guerrilla-controlled zone. The invaluable idea of and experience in the building of the people's government were applied to the building of a new country after the national liberation, creating an original state of the Korean style, that is, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Later our country survived the hard time of the Fatherland Liberation War and the postwar rehabilitation and construction, and developed into a socialist state, independent in politics, self-sufficient in the economy and self-reliant in national defence.

Our country guarantees that the masses of the people take their position and role as the masters of the state and society, and it maintains the idea of "The people are my God" and the finest popular policies—this consists in the source of the people's pride in living in the genuine people's country.
Such a pride serves as the dynamic of our people's efforts to build a powerful socialist country.
Above all, it ensures that the popular character of our state is adhered to invariably. From of old, they said the people constitute the mainstay of the country. This means that the people make up the fundamental basis of the country as it would not do without the people.
The people are the basic essentials of the country, and no state is greater than the one whose master is the people. The popular character of a state is one of the factors in judging its progressiveness and stability.
No country in the world has as strong a popular character as our country does. As a political weapon to defend independence of the masses of the people, our state regards it as its historic mission to bring them complete independence.
In our country, the working masses, masters of the state power and means of production, take active part in the exercise of the power and economic management. All the lines and policies of the state are drawn up to meet the desire and demands of the people, and the power organs and economic bodies conduct their activities by relying on the strength of the people.
Their dignity and pride in living in the genuine people's country is promoting the political awareness and enthusiasm of the masses, masters of the power, as it has ever done. Supported by the pride, the government of our country remains the most progressive and stable one in the world, maintaining its popular character invariably.
A true outlook on the people or the people-based philosophy is prevailing in every aspect of the social life, and thus devoted efforts for the good of the people is the mode of existence of the Workers' Party of Korea and the people's government. Such being the situation, even a small sign of abuse of power, bureaucratism and corruption as well as anti-popular and reactionary practices is not tolerated at all.
The popular character of our state that remains secure invariably will further enhance the pride of our people. Our country where everything serves the people and the masses are discharging their responsibilities and playing their role faithfully as masters of society, will continue to demonstrate its dignity as a great people's country which is invincible in whatever the storms.
Our people's pride in living in the genuine people's country also inspires a higher sense of patriotism in all of them.
Our country has now entered the stage of building a powerful socialist nation, which is a higher stage of its development. The reality requires a higher sense of patriotism than ever before. The building of a powerful socialist country is a sacred, patriotic cause for prosperity of the nation and happiness of all generations to come; the patriotic spirit rises from, and grows on, the pride in things of their own nation.
The pride of our people in living in the genuine people's country constitutes part of the source of patriotism they display in socialist construction. Our country was once eclipsed from the map of the world, and it was only in the era of the Workers' Party of Korea that it entered its heyday as a great socialist country, demonstrating to the world the prestige and dignity of a bulwark of independence and a genuine people's country. Full of pride and confidence in their prestigious and worthwhile life in the genuine people's country, our people worked hard with all their patriotic ardor to attain their nation's prosperity, and now they are striving to achieve a new goal of building a powerful socialist country.
A powerful socialist country means the best country in the world, one with great national strength that is ever-prospering and whose people are living happily without envying anyone in the world.
Daunted by the spirit of our country that is advancing dynamically toward a powerful socialist nation in reliance on its inexhaustible national strength, the hostile forces are now making desperate attempts to throw a wet blanket over our people's patriotism and undermine the popular character of our country. The more vicious attempt they make, however, the higher the patriotic spirit of our people is rising to maintain their genuine people's country and add luster to it.
Things for the people or those in their interest are deemed the most justifiable and are given the top priority in our country, which is the crystallization of the people-first principle, despite the sanctions and embargo imposed by the hostile forces. Thanks to the WPK's politics based on the people-first principle, the position and dignity of the working people have risen as high as ever in history and all social wealth is channeled into their welfare.
Although there are still a lot of things in short supply and a lot of difficulties in their life, our people are unusually proud of making revolution while living in the genuine people's country; they are fulfilling their duty as citizens of the people's country with a burning patriotic heart—for the prosperity of their country.
Only the people with confidence in victory, indomitable spirit and burning patriotism can survive any ordeals and hardships and finally win a brilliant victory.
Our people will continue to struggle courageously to make their prestigious people's country, the greatest ever socialism, shine brightly all over the world.
