One of the impressive stories showing the noble world of the the Chairman is a story handed down with Sinhung Restaurant which is at the foot of Mt. Tonghung in Hamhung City.
It was one day several decades ago.
At one night, the the Chairman told an official that the President was satisfied so much with well-built Singhung Restaurant, and he wanted to visit it.
The official agreed with him, but hesitated for a moment. It was already 11 o'clock at night.
The official told him that the night was very deep and it would be better to visit the next day.
But the the Chairman told him that he would have no time the next day, so he would like to visit soon. And he instructed not to inform them about his visiting.
Arriving at the restaurant after a while, he went round the various places and praised them for the building the restaurant well. He was so satisfied with the outlook of the restaurant which was so gorgeous and attractive and said that the people would be eager to eat noodle.
He said in a very pleasant tone that it would be a pity to leave such a fantastic restaurant without eating noodle.
So embarrassed, the official thought how he could serve the Chairman the noodle without any preparation.
As if he read the mind of the official, the Chairman told him smiling generously not to prepare anything as he only wanted to know how they usually serve the people, and asked him to bring the noodle as they did before. That's why he didn't let them know before his visit.
After a moment the noodle was served, the Chairman took the bowl close to him, looked at the amount of noodle and tasted the noodle broth, and was delighted to taste good. In addition, he said that it would be a shame if the building was built gorgeously but the noodle tasted bad. And the Chairman taught him to make noodle well so the people would say " like the restaurant, like the noodle".
He asked the official how many dishes of noodle were prepared a day. He examined whether the ingredients were provided properly and what was the main ingredient of noodle in Sinhung Restaurant.
An official replied that the main material is starch which was rich in South Hamgyong Province. The Chairman emphasized that there could be people who liked buckwheat noodles among the guests, and so they should serve various kinds of foods like buckwheat noodle and bread as they wanted.
Then he told earnestly to the official that; sometimes people visit the restaurant to taste special foods with their families or friends because it is a life, but when they happen to visit here and taste bad, it would make them disappointed. It is not a problem to neglect. And he told that we should make sure that there is nothing to envy in the people's livelihood.
That day, the Chairman took measures carefully to exchange the furniture and service equipment of the restaurant to be better so as to meet the sentiments and tastes of the people and set up the necessary system of supplying ingredients and foodstuffs to run the restaurant normally without any difficulty.
It was already over 3 o'clock in the next morning when the Chairman gave valuable teachings for the operation of Sinhung Restaurant and left it.
The light of the car running into the darkness got dimmer and dimmer. But the official got something great in his heart.
It was the noble intention of care for the people of our Chairman that there should be nothing insufficient in our people's livelihood.
