After the liberation of the country, the President set the agrarian reform as the primary task for carrying out the democratic reforms and successfully solved it in conformity to the specific situation of the country, thus realizing the centuries-old desire of the peasants for land.
President
"Only when the agrarian reform is carried out so that only those who cultivate the land are entitled to own it can the feudal system of land ownership be completely abolished and the peasants made the genuine masters of the land and the dynamic motive force for agricultural development."
It was the centuries-old desire of our peasants to cultivate their land to their heart's content.
This desire of our peasants was successfully realized thanks to the tireless efforts of the President.
Under the slogan "Land to the tillers!" the President put forward the original policy of agrarian reform that the confiscated land should not belong to the state but peasants on the principle of confiscation without compensation and free distribution, and correctly defined the objects of land confiscation and the struggle for its realization, and at the same time enforced the correct class policy.
He also saw to it that the peasants who were directly responsible for the agrarian reform were prepared politically and ideologically, and that officials were dispatched to each locality to get a detailed understanding of the real state of land tenure relations and farming, and went to various rural areas, where he met the peasants face to face, and worked out the actual situation in detail.
He personally went to Taedong County and other rural areas to get a detailed understanding of the actual situation and the wishes of the peasants for land, and decided on the objects of land confiscation, method of confiscation and distribution and ways to abolish the tenant system.
On the basis of this, the President convened the 5th Enlarged Executive Committee of the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party in early March Juche 35(1946) and comprehensively clarified the issues related to the implementation of the agrarian reform.
On March 5, Juche 35 (1946), he made sure that the Law on the Agrarian Reform was promulgated, thus laying important guidelines for successfully implementing the agrarian reform in our country.
He also visited various rural villages of the country and energetically led the struggle for the successful implementation of the agrarian reform.
When Agrarian Reform Law was proclaimed, the officials of the then rural committee of Nae-ri, Sizokmyon, Taedong County embarked on the agrarian reform in ecstasy, but nobody had any experiences, so it didn't proceed properly.
The objects of confiscation were not the same, the distribution objects were diverse, and the lands were very various, so the members of the rural committee disagreed with each other.
Moreover, some peasants were deceived by rumors by the reactionaries so they cast doubt on the agrarian reform.
When he dropped in at the rural committee, the President said that he had come to see if the agrarian reform work was going well, and asked him in detail about the success of the work, what people the rural committee was organized into, and how far it had proceeded.
And he praised them for their progress and awakened them to their unexpected problems.
And when he visited Songmun-ri, Sijokmyon, Taedong County, he met the peasants who had been kept in bondage before, saw to them that they had received the fertile land, and when he visited a rural village, he let the farmer who used to be a servant of landlord live in the landlord's house, and put up a nameplate of the farmer at the gate of the landlord's house.
Under the wise leadership of the President, our peasants who had suffered from every kind of humiliation and insult could turn out in the struggle to overturn the exploiting society as genuine masters of the agrarian reform and the reform was carried out smoothly and thoroughly in over 20 days.
Indeed, the immortal exploits of the President who realized the centuries-old desire of the peasants by carrying out the historic agrarian reform will shine forever with the new socialist rural communities which are changing day by day under the leadership of the great Party.
