The Story of Love For People Conveyed by Rimyongsu

 2021.2.18.

At the foot of Mt. Paektu in midwinter, there are many unique views, among which is Rimyongsu Falls, famous for being shrouded in spray in winter.

Listening to the pouring sound of the Rimyongsu Falls breaking the stillness of the mountain village, people in this region say that the Rimyongsu Falls is cascading to convey forever the love of the peerlessly great man for this region.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"The General was a peerless patriot; he loved his country and fellow people more ardently than anybody else did, and he devoted his whole life to achieving the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people."

The locals of Rimyongsu are telling stories about the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il's love for the people through generations.

Among them is the story between the great General and rafters.

One day in September, Juche60(1971) the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il, who always valued and loved the working class, visited the Rimyongsu forestry station again.

From early morning it was raining and the weather in the north was cold for early autumn.

However, the great General visited the barrage of the station that day.

The rafting was in full swing in the water.

Comrade Kim Jong Il said with deep emotion that Rimyongsu was such a place he had visited several times that he was very impressed, adding that he would like to see the brave people ride the raft.

The working class of Rimyongsu was impressed by his deep trust, as Comrade Kim Jong Il had visited the station to take warm care of the workers' livelihood and encouraged them to send more logs to socialist construction sites.

It was one day in June, Juche45(1956), when he was making an expedition to the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu, leading the students of Pyongyang Secondary School No.1 that he visited here for the first time.

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il stayed overnight in an ordinary house in the village. Early in the following morning, he inquired about how much timber was produced and where the trees were sent, looking at logs piled up like mountains. Then he turned round to see the workers tie the logs in rafts.

After watching the workers working in the cold water for a while, the great General slowly approached the wall of the barrage and dipped his hand in the cold water.

Deep in thought for a while, he said that the water was very cold, adding in a worried tone that the workers were suffering a lot of trouble.

Comrade Kim Jong Il told the officials that no matter how difficult the country might be, they should have provided the rafters with raincoats, and that they should be provided with labour protection supplies in time and taken good care of so that they do not have any difficulties in their lives.

The workers, who thought it was natural to get wet on the raft, were moved to tears by the loving care of Comrade Kim Jong Il.

After his visit to the station, the rafters were provided with raincoats and long boots as well as various kinds of labour protection supplies.

Later, when Comrade Kim Jong Il visited the station again, he taught them to mechanize the laborious work including the work of rafting and the opening of the barrage and indicated the way for it.

The workers were warmly recollecting such a history of the peerlessly great man's love associated with their work.

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il stepped on the bridge of the lock, saying that they should repay dearly for the expectation of the President by sending more rafts along the waterway.

Eventually, it was time for the raft to leave.

The lock gate was opened and the rafts began to flow at full speed on the waterway.

Looking at the rafters steadfastly driving the rafts of logs on them, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il waved his hand to them, saying that they are taking the trouble and they are as brave as the President praised them.

In the past, their lives had to be spent through the rough waters, the song they sang on the trail was so sad, and what a sigh in the thatch on the rafts.

These people were now displaying the honour of the socialist builders.

The loving care of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il for rafters pushing the raft through the fierce waves for the prosperity of the country, regardless of whoever may see them, was getting warmer day by day.

It was him who provided them with everything they needed, including rice tubs and water barrels as well as the cars to be used when they came back.

His love is still reaching every corner along the waterways of the country where the rafts are flowing.

Time passes and mountains and streams are changing with the courageous flow of Rimyongsu, but the immortal history of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il in Rimyongsu will be conveyed to the hearts of the foreign workers and the Korean people generation after generation.
