Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism‐The People-First Doctrine

Scientific formulation of the leader's revolutionary ideas which illuminate the way that the era and the revolution should follow and their essential contents can be provided only by the leader's successor who carries forward faithfully the leader's ideas and cause.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has formulated Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the great leading idea of the era of independence on the basis of the comprehensive review of the immortal ideological feats that Chairman Kim Jong Il performed in the course of developing and enriching Kimilsungism and of in-depth scientific analysis of the earnest demands of the era and the people.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is an integral system of the idea, theory and method of Juche, and its main point, the fundamental ideal, is the people-first doctrine.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is, in essence, the people-first doctrine and a person who worships the people as God and works devotedly for them is just a genuine Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist."

That Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the people-first doctrine is that the idea of believing in people as in heaven–the idea of worshipping the people as God and serving the people-that President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il adopted as their lifetime motto permeates the overall composition of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, that is, the idea, theory and method of Juche as the fundamental ideal, the main point.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism becomes the people-first doctrine.

First, it is because the Juche idea, the man-centered idea, constitutes the quintessence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and the people-first doctrine runs through the idea, theory and method of Juche.

The Juche idea regards the popular masses as the most precious and powerful beings in the world, puts everything into the service of them and solves all problems by relying on them.

It is none other than the popular masses that the Juche idea regards as the master of everything, the most precious and powerful being. The popular masses who regard independence as their life and live creatively constitute the driving force which develop history and the masters of the world with inexhaustible creative ability capable of transforming the nature and society.

Thanks to the Juche idea, the status of the popular masses who were benighted subject to exploitation and oppression, maltreatment and contempt have been raised to the highest level.

The Juche idea clarifies that everything in the world has its value only when it is in service of the popular masses and that nothing is impossible when the strength of the popular masses is summoned up.

Indeed, the Juche idea is the idea of believing in the people as in heaven which regards the popular masses as omniscient and omnipotent beings and demands to put everything into the service of the popular masses and solve all the problems by relying on them.

The idea of believing in the people as in heaven was a lifetime-motto of Chairman Kim Jong Il identical with President Kim Il Sung.

Chairman Kim Jong Il adopted the motto of the President as his own, experiencing two revolutionary wars against the Japanese and US imperialists and two social revolutions in his early years.

As he had a firm conviction that if there exists an omnipotent being, it is none other than the people, not God, he formulated and systematized the Juche idea as a man-centered idea.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un formulated the guiding ideology of the Workers' Party of Korea, the guiding ideology of the era of independence as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism with the names of the President and the Chairman, and defined this great idea in a word as the people-first doctrine.

Herein lies the reason that the Juche idea, which constitutes the quintessence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, becomes the idea for the people, the man-centred idea.

The Juche idea, the revolutionary theory and the leadership method which constitute Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism are thoroughly consistent with the people-first doctrine.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, which aims to realize the independence of the popular masses, is consistent with the idea, theory and method which believe in people as in heaven and serve the people. Herein lies the characteristics of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

There existed ideologies and theories with different contents and systems in the history of ideologies of mankind, but it is only Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism that has an integral ideological and theoretical system so as to regard the popular masses as the most precious beings and serve them.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, contrary to the precedent revolutionary ideas, consists of the idea, theory and method of Juche.

On the basis of the Juche idea, the man-centred revolutionary idea, Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism evolves the revolutionary theories of Juche which clarify the fundamental theory and principle of the revolution, the strategy and tactics in accordance with the developing stages of the revolution, thus showing the way for the struggle to realize the independence of the popular masses. The theories, strategy and tactics of the revolution are permeated with the love and respect for the people and devoted service for the people.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism comprehensively expounds the theory of leading the popular masses and the art of leadership on the basis of the Juche idea.

The issue of leading the masses is of great significance in guiding the masses to the revolutionary struggle and arousing their creative enthusiasm to the full.

The revolutionary idea aims to realize the independence of popular masses and the popular masses themselves undertake the struggle. Therefore, the problem of the method of leadership holds an important place in the contents of the revolutionary idea. But the previous working-class revolutionary theory did not raise the problem of leading the masses.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, however, sets the problem of leading the masses as its independent content and gives comprehensive explanation to the problem of the revolutionary leadership which enables the popular masses to hold the position of the master and fulfil their role.

That the revolutionary theory and the method of leadership with the Juche idea as their quintessence run through with the people-first doctrine is the main reason that Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism becomes the people-first doctrine.

The Juche idea constitutes the quintessence of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and people-first doctrine runs through the revolutionary theory and the method of leadership. It is the very reason why the Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism becomes the people-first doctrine.

Second, it is because Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the revolutionary idea based on the love for and trust in the people.

Love for the people and devoted service for them lie in defending their independent position and dignity and providing an independent and creative life to them.

The main aim of the revolution is to realize the independence and the struggle for independence presupposes the powerful armed forces. The imperialists and reactionaries are hampering the people's struggle for independence with counterrevolutionary violence. This being the reality, the people-first doctrine which defends the cause of independence of the popular masses by force of arms is the very idea of love for the country, nation and people.

Without the love for the people, it cannot defend the independent dignity and position of popular masses and the popular masses will once again suffer the fate of colonial slavery. This is a serious lesson drawn from the world of today. The historical process of the Korean revolution which started and has advanced triumphantly by virtue of the love for the people and the ideal of patriotism permeated in Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism demonstrate that the Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the very idea guaranteeing the independent dignity and position of popular masses.

The reason why the revolutionary theory of Juche becomes the scientific revolutionary theory that shows the way of struggle for independence is that it has been combined with the people-first doctrine.

The method of leadership of Juche also embodies the people-first doctrine. The revolutionary leadership is an undertaking that the Party and the leader guide the popular masses.

As seen above, the method of leadership of Juche reflects all the matters arising in leading the masses.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism which provides the people with the revolutionary idea and leads them is the most popular idea consistent with the people-first doctrine, the idea of love and devoted service for the people.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism will forever shine brilliantly all over the world as the most original, revolutionary people-first doctrine in the history of ideologies of mankind for the very reason that its quintessence is the Juche idea, the great man-centred philosophical idea.
