"Uibangryuchi" is the first classic Koryo traditional medical encyclopedia with 60,000 pages which is the most unique and the most enormous in its publishing history and it was well known as the first medical encyclopedia. In 1861, it was also published in Japan.
The original book was lost due to the plunders and wars by the foreign aggressors.
Under the wise leadership of the great leaders to glorify national cultural heritage, the medical publishing House translated and published the original book of "Uibangryuchi" binding 13 volumes together to have the total of 20 separated books from Juche 63(1974) to Juche 69 (1980) to make it possible to be able to be hand down generation to generation. At the front of every separated book, there was a translated version of the book and the later part was the original book with the Chinese characters. To help the convenience of the readers, the pages of the translated version and original works were conformed, and new content was added.
Although it has some disadvantages such as not fully developed and being unscientific and also carries some superstitions due to the immaturity of the socio-historical and science development in those days but because it is permeated with the wisdom and talents of our people it has become one of the country's precious treasures.
