A Spark That Spread Across the Country

The warm love for the people by Chairman Kim Jong Il, who devoted his whole life to the people's well-being, can be traced to the modern and comprehensive foodstuff factories built in every province in the DPRK.

In April Juche98(2009), 11 years ago, Chairman Kim Jong Il inspected the Samilpho Specialities Factory, built by the Korean People's Army.

Saying that this is a starting point of comprehensive foodstuff factories and a spark, he instructed that all the provinces should build similar factories with this factory as a model.

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il taught as follows:

"All the provinces should regard building their own comprehensive foodstuff factories as an important task in implementing the policy of bringing about a turn in light industry at present and push ahead with it vigorously, thus ensuring that the spark struck at the Samilpho Specialities Factory flare up fiercely across the country."

That day stressing that flames of innovation should be fiercely stoked up in the sector of foodstuff-processing industry, he said that officials of Kim Chaek University of Technology and Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry should visit this factory and it should be given wide publicity through TV, Rodong Sinmun and other newspapers and publications. And he called a leader writer of Rodong Sinmun, and told him that the factory he had inspected that day was an organ worthy of being a model of the times, and that it was turning out hundreds of kinds of foodstuffs by laying itself out wonderfully and raising its technical level by its own efforts, instructing that he should write a leader article about the factory.

The Chairman's inspection of the factory constituted a historic occasion in stoking up fierce flames of new innovations in light industry, in the foodstuff-processing industry in particular, as required by the grand march for improving the people's standard of living under the slogan "Everything for the improvement of the people's standard of living!"

The work method of making a spark flare up into fierce flames is a powerful method of leading the revolution and construction in a proactive and effective way.

The course of igniting a spark becomes a course of gaining valuable experiences and lessons through detailed guidance over an individual unit and the course of making the spark flare up into flames is a course of making the positive example propagated in the overall revolution and construction in a short period on the basis of the experiences gained through such detailed guidance.

The spark ignited by the Chairman flared up across the country: During the periods of the historic 150-day and 100-day campaigns such comprehensive foodstuff-processing bases as the Paegunsan, Susongchon, Jongbangsan, Suyangsan, Amnokgang and Nampho and other general foodstuff factories were built in all the provinces and started operation.

Having these factories built to contribute to improving people's diet, the Chairman, busy as he was with leading the grand march through onsite guidance day and night, visited several newly-built general foodstuff factories, acquainting himself in detail with their construction and giving instructions on their operation.

In the year when the general foodstuff factories similar to the Samilpho Specialities Factory were built, the Chairman visited a pickling factory built in a general foodstuff factory under a Korean People's Army unit and Jangjasan, Paegunsan, Susongchon and Jongbangsan general foodstuff factories, and in April next year he visited the Suyangsan General Foodstuff Factory.

Looking at the various foodstuffs being turned out continuously in the cosy and clean workshops furnished with modern foodstuff-processing equipment, he expressed great satisfaction, and spoke highly of the exploits performed by the producers, builders and helpers. He inquired in detail about the production of processed goods of wild fruits and herbs like wild pear juice and such foodstuffs as pickled vegetables, noodles, cereal cakes, candies and biscuits and their tastes, expressing his pleasure over the fact that tasty and nutritious foodstuffs could be supplied to the people in large amounts.

Clarifying the tasks and roles of the foodstuff factories in improving the people's diet, he stressed that officials and working people of these factories should implement to the letter the instructions of President Kim Il Sung on completely freeing the women from the heavy burden of household chores by producing in larger amounts tasty and nutritious non-staple foods and other processed foodstuffs by displaying without interruption the high spirit of loving the people. He then gave detailed instructions on putting foodstuff production on a normal track on a high level, like modernizing production lines on a higher level, supplying raw and other materials needed for production in satisfactory amounts, properly ensuring technical and equipment management, steadily improving the producers' technical skills raising the quality of products and ensuring their hygienic safety.

Thanks to the devoted efforts and wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il, who concerned himself so much with improving the people's diet, the modern and comprehensive foodstuff-processing factories built in the provinces are mass-producing noodles, rice cakes and other staple foods and dried farm products, pickled vegetables, teas, beverages and various other foodstuffs through latest science and technology with the raw materials abundant in their localities, thus rendering active contributions to enriching the local people's diet.

That the comprehensive foodstuff-processing industry which embodies the requirements of ensuring the Juche character and national identity in production and putting it on a modern and scientific basis as required by the building of a powerful socialist country has been set up is a great revolution in the development of the country's light industry and a precious fruit of the warm and ardent love for the people cherished by Chairman Kim Jong Il, who strived to make our people enjoy the most civilized and richest life in line with the ennobling intention of President Kim Il Sung who devoted his whole life for the people's wellbeing.
