"Those who built the Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station are as precious as pearls and gems."
The Kumjingang Youth Power Station is situated in Hungbong-ri, Hamju County, South Hamgyong Province.
Hungbong ri was so rugged that it had been called a wasteland from olden times, but it has now turned into a land of happiness well known and learned after by the whole country.
To the visitors, the Hungbong people proudly show the magnificent dams built with their own hands, the large artificial lake with clear water, the cultural houses lined at the foot of the mountain and the cozy peasant holiday camps.
But their pride is not only limited to this.
The greatest pride was that the builders who built the power station were highly praised as the people who were as precious as pearls and gems by the Chairman when he personally visited the power station that they had built by themselves.
It was November 14, Juche 95(2006).
That day the Chairman visited the completed Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station and looked round various places of the power station, highly appreciating it as a technically perfect one.
But they couldn't get such success without the leadership of the Chairman.
He opened up a broad vista to build power stations step by step on an unknown river and visited the construction site despite his busy schedule, solving knotty problems one by one, giving strength and giving trust to them.
He made such devotion and painstaking efforts and took all measures so that the power station could be successfully completed, but he earnestly instructed the officials to give wide publicity to the people of Hamju County who had built the Kumjingang Hungbong Youth Power Station and thus make the whole country know them and learn after their work attitude.
Everyone was buoyed up by his praise when he said in a loud voice that the builders who built the Kumjingang Youth Power Station were as precious as pearls and gems.

The builders who had dug the river floor an inch by inch with a pickaxe through a hole, and the young shock brigade members who had plunged into the open water and blocked the bursting embankment before others, the young men and women who had celebrated their once-in-a lifetime weddings in sweaty shock brigade uniforms, those who thought of the interests of the country and the revolution before themselves and their families, whether or not they were supervised or appreciated and who rushed to the construction site and devoted their strength and wisdom to the work of the project, they all were praised as the "pearls and gems" by the Chairman, which made them build such a wonderful power station to live up to his expectations and love.
Truly, even the common builders of the power station on this land could be regarded as "pearls and gems" only under the benevolent loving care of the Chairman.
The priceless remark of the Chairman on the day was also an earnest instruction that all the people on this land should live as bright as pearls and as strong as gems.
