A Playground for Children on a Passenger Ship

 2024.4.12.

President Kim Il Sung has always cared for the life of the Korean compatriots in Japan.

A playground on a passenger ship is one of the examples which show the love and care of the great leader for them.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"Officials should make sure that our compatriots returning to their homeland do not feel any slightest inconvenience. Moreover, as they experienced hardships in foreign lands before returning to the embrace of their motherland by believing in us, it is our natural duty to receive and take warm care of them regarding them as our blood relatives."

For the convenience of the Korean compatriots in Japan who return to the fatherland, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that a big, modern passenger ship named "Mangyongbong" was constructed and gave personal guidance even from the design of the ship to its running.

In June, Juche 61(1972), President visited a passenger ship named "Mangyongbong" on the wharf at Chongjin.

He personally got on the ship and looked around the bedrooms and an education room and went to the central corridor on a lower deck.

He thought for a while and said that there would be a playground for children on a third floor which was built modifying the original structure of the ship.

At first, when the passenger ship "Mangyongbong" was built, the officials took some pictures of the external and internal form and structure of the ship and gave it to the great leader.

Looking at the pictures of the ship, President got satisfied with them and asked if they had ever thought of a playground on a ship in case the sons and daughters of the compatriots returned to fatherland.

His question was so unexpected to the officials that they could hardly answer him.

They had never heard of a playground on a passenger ship.

Looking at the surprised officials, he said that they had to build a big playground on a sunny and open side.

So the structure of a constructed ship was modified and a beautiful playground was built wonderfully.

Thanks to the love of President who regards the children as a "King" of the land and a future of the fatherland, there was built a playground on "Mangyongbong", which could not be found on other ships.

Personally pushing the tricycle and a wooden horse, he asked if the children enjoyed the playground.

The officials told him that the children were fully enjoying it and their parents seemed more delighted.

With a smile on his face, President said that the children would feel it as a bosom of the fatherland and took measures to make it better with more toys and playing facilities.

Since then, generations have been changed but the love of President for the Korean compatriots in Japan has been handed down and cherished in the heart of the compatriots in Japan.
