The Mangyongdae family, where the peerlessly great men admired by the world were born, has the revolutionary family tradition descending from generation to generation. It is the independent faith that one should know one's own things and make revolution in one's own way and the idea of love for the country, the nation and the people.

Here is a story telling the noble tradition of the great revolutionary family which is carried forward generation after generation.

President Kim Il Sung was a new revolutionary in Korea and the leadership of the Comintern paid attention with great expectation in the early period of his revolutionary activities. His outstanding leadership ability of dealing with all problems arising in the revolutionary struggle in a unique way, free from established theories and experience, attracted the great attention of the Comintern and the leadership of the Comintern advised him to study at the Moscow Communist University on several occasions.

The advice of Kim Kwang Ryol, liaison man of the International Communist Party who was dispatched to acquaint himself with the situation of Wujiazi revolutionized in the 1930s was one of typical examples. After comprehension he supported and approved that the young communists of Korea were opening an original way in the communist movement and the national liberation struggle in colonies, and had gained a great deal of experience in the course of this. He said to the President Kim Il Sung that he was a promising man, so practice would be important but he should study, opening up suitcase with suits, shirts, ties and shoes and added that he would be a great trust in the Party. Perhaps he seemed to come to the President having direction that he had to persuade the President to come to Moscow.

The President Kim Il Sung said to Kim Kwang Ryol: "I am very grateful to you for your interest in me, but I intend to go out to east Manchuria, to the masses. If I go to the Soviet Union and eat Russian bread, I may become a pro-Russian, which I do not want. There are many factions in Korea such as the M-L group, the Tuesday group, and others which I find distasteful. I cannot be the same. I shall learn Marxism-Leninism from my books."

At that time, the Moscow Communist University was the highest cadre-training base of the Communist Party of the Comintern training the leaders of the working class in different countries. Therefore, entering the Moscow Communist University just meant obtaining the opportunity to enjoy the world leadership and authority not limited to the revolution of a country, but the President refused the road of climbing to the "leadership of the world revolution" and went among our people. As he was invariably among the masses of the people all his life, the President was always well acquainted with the aspirations of our people and the specific reality of our country, and ushered in a great heyday of the revolutionary struggle with encyclopedic knowledge which is incomparable in any field of the revolution and construction.

President Kim Il Sung's faith and will to learn his own things and accomplish the revolution in own country were the faith and will of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The Chairman visited the Soviet Union before graduation from senior middle school.

While staying in Moscow for several days, he looked round various cultural institutions. One day he visited Moscow University under the guidance of Russian diplomat.

It had a history of more than 200 years, and was the world's leading university, in terms of educational equipment, teaching staff, and the production of celebrities, in parallel with universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Sorbonne in France.

At the end of the visit, the diplomat said that he hoped the Chairman would study there when he graduated from senior middle school.

Chairman Kim Jong Il thanked for his recommendation, but he said that there was a excellent university in Pyongyang, too, and that he would study at Kim Il Sung University together with his friends.

When almost all people thought that they could learn advanced science only when they went to famous universities abroad, his decision was a great ambition and pledge of faith to learn the revolutionary idea of the President Kim Il Sung on our land and glorify our country.
