Noble Personality Associated with an Admission Ticket

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Even though he was held in high respect and admiration by our people and progressive people around the world, Comrade Kim Il Sung rejected any special favour or privilege for himself, and always led a simple and frugal life with his people."

President Kim Il Sung who regarded "The people are my God" as his motto, rejected any special favour or privilege for himself, and always led a simple and frugal life with his people.

Among the many revolutionary anecdotes about the President is a story which tells that a letter of invitation changed into an ordinary ticket for the theatre.

It was one day in July, Juche 45(1956), when the whole country was seething with post-war economic construction.

There was an art performance going on in Moranbong Opera House and the President sent for an official to get some tickets.

He was having a busy day giving correct guidance over postwar economic construction and when he returned from work for lunch, he asked the official if he had carried out the given task.

The official answered yes and showed an invitation card for guests of honour to the President.

But then the President showed no delight.

To the puzzled official, the President said the performance was just an ordinary one, not for the guests of honour, and that all the people were seeing the performance with ordinary tickets and he wouldn't tolerate any privilege.

He stressed that as people were making difficult livings in postwar period, he should share the difficulties with his people.

The official blushed with shame, speechless.

The President always would emphasize to his officials that they should never put themselves over people and that they should share their whole lives with people. However, the official performed his task in disregard of the President's teaching.

Looking at the official who was filled with remorse, the President said that if people paid money for the performance, then we should also do the same.

He then told the official to give the invitation card back and buy an ordinary admission ticket instead, and so the official went back to the theatre for the exchange.

However, that job was not easy.

When the official asked the staff at the theatre to exchange the invitation card for an ordinary ticket, they insisted on offering the invitation card.

At last the official conveyed the President's instruction and the staff of the theatre were all deeply moved by the great leader's popular character.

This was how an invitation card was exchanged for an ordinary admission ticket.

It was an earnest desire of all the Korean people to revere the President, a peerless patriot and a hero of the nation who liberated the country from the Japanese imperialists and achieved a great victory against the US imperialists.

However, President Kim Il Sung rejected any special favour or privilege for himself, and always led a simple and frugal life with his people.

Indeed, the world has witnessed no one, but the President Kim Il Sung, the father of people, a great revolutionary who devoted his whole life to the welfare of people.
