6. Loyalty to the Leader

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"No nation in the world can be a match for our people in being loyal to their leader and faithful to their ennobling moral obligation to him."

There are many countries and nations in the world, and they have their own wealth and customs handed down generation after generation.

But the Korean people are the only people on earth who regard it as their moral obligation to remain loyal to their leader and remain faithful to his idea and leadership.

Loyalty to the great leader, this is the outstanding faith cherished by the Korean people alone and the fundamental source of making them powerful and great.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said that it is loyalty and filial devotion to the leader that constitutes the core of the national character of Kim Il Sung's nation, adding that loyalty to the leader serves as the highest expression of the good national character of Kim Il Sung's nation and constitutes the basis of all the excellent qualities of Kim Il Sung's nation.

The protracted course of the Korean revolution is a glorious course in which only miracles and victories have been recorded, holding the peerlessly great men in high esteem as the leader generation after generation. At the same time, the tradition of loyalty to the leader has been created, inherited and developed for the first time in the history of the world revolutionary movement.

The noble tradition of loyalty to the leader created in the flames of the grim anti-Japanese revolution has been invariably inherited in the annals of Juche Korea. The Korean people were able to defeat the aggression forces boasting of being the "strongest" in the world, build a socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defense on the ruins, firmly defend socialism and usher in a new era of building a powerful country in isolation against the imperialist allied forces for decades. This is because they have firm trust in the leader only and have advanced the revolution as befits the leader's idea and will.

The loyalty of the Korean people to the leader is based on their personal and comradely fascination with the leader. This is a noble ideological feeling that comes from a deep understanding of the greatness of the leader.

The leader is the sun illuminating the hopeful future of the revolution and the center of leading the people to victory, glory, happiness and prosperity. Thanks to the idea and leadership of the leader, the revolution will advance victoriously and the genuine life and happiness of the popular masses will be brought into full bloom.

In the revolutionary struggle, the leader is not a being separated from the people but a leader of the people who shares life and death with them and devotes himself to their happiness. This is because the leader's ideology and theory are the popular revolutionary doctrine for making people live well with dignity, his leadership is the people-oriented leadership which motivates the people by relying on them and his traits are the popular traits that love the people and make selfless, devoted efforts for them.

For revolutionaries, the great leader is the benefactor and teacher who brings them up as revolutionaries and the father who gives them a worthwhile life and happiness. Throughout their real life, the Korean people keenly felt that their genuine life and eternal happiness for posterity can be provided and blossomed only by the great leader who truly loves the country and people and devotes his all to them.

It is the most precious traits and unshakable will of the Korean people to fulfill their duty as revolutionary fighters and defend their obligation on the road of successfully realizing the idea and intention of the leader by following the peerlessly great men who share weal and woe with the people and devote themselves to their happiness, firmly believing in them as the great leaders of the people and the pillars of their minds, and devoting their all to them.

The Korean people's loyalty to the leader is absolute loyalty based on their revolutionary faith and obligation.

It is an honor, conscience, moral obligation and practice prior to duty to remain loyal to the leader who takes full responsibility for and takes care of the destiny and future of the masses. Loyalty based on duty and responsibility is not true. Loyalty to the leader can be absolute and unconditional only when it becomes a faith, conscience and obligation before it is a duty.

In the pioneering period of the Korean revolution, the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters boundlessly revered and followed President Kim Il Sung with the firm faith that he was the only one who could save the destiny of the country and the nation and lead the struggle for national liberation to victory, and had the absolute loyalty that no one knows but the President. They regarded the President not only as the great leader of the revolution but also as a close comrade and benevolent father, entrusted their destiny entirely to the great leader and devoted their all to him.

During the Fatherland Liberation War the Korean people were able to defeat the imperialist aggressors who were incomparably superior in number and technology and create the myth of war victory that admired the world thanks to the firm faith that they would surely win if they were led by the great leader alone. The Korean people could build a socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in national defense by leaping through the centuries on Chollima from scratch as they unconditionally carried out the Party's lines and policies with the absolute belief that the day of prosperity would surely come when they lived up to the President.

The period of the arduous march and forced march was a grim period in which the destiny of Korea was decisive. This period was an unforgettable period that proved how important the issue of cherishing loyalty to the leader as faith and obligation is in the struggle to defend socialism. The Korean people, possessed of absolute trust in Kim Jong Il, unanimously supported only him in such difficult trials and firmly defended their posts and places of work while tightening their belts. Thanks to the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il and the heroic struggle of the Korean people faithful to the leader, the DPRK demonstrated its might as a socialist fortress and entered a new era of building a powerful country.

Today the Korean people are enjoying the joy of life on the road of trusting and following only the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. They are thinking and acting in accordance with the idea and intention of the respected General Secretary with the steadfast viewpoint and stand that all people know nobody but the respected General Secretary, though their posts, workplaces, hobbies and personalities differ from each other. This is an expression of fascination and reverence of the Korean people who have learned through their real life experience that the embrace of the respected General Secretary is the benevolent love for the genuine dignity of man and the embrace of the great revolution that trains all the sons and daughters of this land into indomitable fighters.

As proved by the proud victories and miracles being achieved in the DPRK in the new century of Juche, the respected General Secretary is the great banner of invincibility and Juche Korea can open a broad avenue to prosperity and greet a bright future to be envied by the whole world as long as it is taught by him.

The Korean people, who have always fought stoutly, believing in the leader both on the road of glorious victory and arduous struggle, are invariably advancing all the miles of the revolution under the guidance of the respected General Secretary, surpassing the hill of hardship and giving full play to the joy of the victors.

The Korean people will give fuller play to the tradition of loyalty to the leader, the source of inexhaustible strength unique to Juche Korea, and bring about the overall development of socialist construction at any cost.
