People's ideological and moral state serves as an important factor that decides a nation's power and future.
History shows the lesson that those who are firmly imbued with the great revolutionary idea demonstrate their dignity as the independent nation who achieves its prosperity with the powerful spiritual strength and on the contrary, thinking lightly of the work to equip people with the revolutionary idea leads a nation to fall into decay and ruin, even if it has enormous potential for the economic and military affairs.
Therefore, it is the foremost task in building socialism to arm people with the great idea and spirit, wherein lies the fundamental guarantee of victorious advance of the revolutionary cause.

First, the respected Comrade
The revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the unyielding offensive spirit to brave the encountered obstacles and hardships and the determined fighting spirit to struggle to the death, is the precious ideological and spiritual treasure of Korean revolution and the revolutionary spirit that should be cherished in the minds of all the Korean people.
In particular, when one generation replaces another with the advance of revolution and centuries-old confrontation with hostile forces is growing more and more serious, it becomes an essential requirement for the victorious advance of revolutionary cause that all the Korean people should be armed with the revolutionary spirit of Paektu.
The respected General Secretary declared that the work of imbuing the entire people with the great fighting spirit created by the former generations of revolution should not be merely the tactical countermeasure for overcoming the difficulties encountered but an important affair that decides the existence and development of a socialist state and the strategic task that should be held fast to till the ultimate victory of the revolution.
The wise guidance of the respected General Secretary, who launched a historic march on horseback to the revolutionary battle sites in Mt. Paektu, personally making the way through blizzards in the van, to launch an intensive drive for education in revolutionary tradition by dint of study tour to the revolutionary battle sites around Mt. Paektu throughout the WPK, was the motive power to prepare Koreans to be firm possessors of the revolutionary spirit so as to turn the difficult period of the revolution into the period of great leap and hasten the promising future.
Amid the hot climate of the study tour to Mt. Paektu, people made themselves strong in ideology and morality who are armed with the firm spirit to defend their leader at the cost of their life, ardent patriotism, faith in victory, unyielding will and revolutionary optimism, bearing in mind the revolutionary tradition of the Workers' Party of Korea, and became the faithful people who respond to the Party's call by creating a new spirit of the times and a new heroic miracle and make every possible effort to lessen what the Party is worried about.
It is entirely the precious result of the strategy for arming people with the revolutionary spirit set forth by the respected General Secretary that they advanced towards the road of socialism with the WPK dynamically and ushered in a new situation of upsurge in which the state got stronger and more prosperous without any pessimism or vacillation even when they were faced with the most difficult and severe moment of history.

To improve the form and method of ideological education is an important guarantee for getting people to acquire the great revolutionary spirit.
In order to turn ideological work into the lively political work to grasp the hearts of people and guide them to embody the great revolutionary spirit and the revolutionary work to stir the masses of people and give vent to their spiritual strength, it ought to advance ahead of the times and continuously get updated. As the environment and condition of the times and people's ideological and moral state change continually with the advance of revolution, the methods suited to it should be studied and applied steadily so that the faith in victory and indomitable stamina of the revolutionary forerunners can be pulsed in the hearts of people as it is and all-people general onward march for the new victory of socialism be accelerated energetically.
If they avoid the reality in which the times develops and people's consciousness changes and stand on mannerism and a set pattern in ideological education, remaining unchanged, it can never be the indispensable and vital work to provide the masses of people with ideological and moral food but gives them a sense of rejection and what is worse, producing a contrary result wherein they button their mind.
The respected General Secretary ensured that the Party and working people's organizations should carry out ideological education in a theoretical and efficient way and at the same time, day-to-day irrespective of time and place with combined efforts of agitprop forces and means, so that they could deeply grasp the revolutionary spirit of Paektu like they breathe in fresh air.
In addition, he elucidated the issues of principle arising in the work of equipping people with the revolutionary spirit, including those of overcoming formalism, studying and applying various forms and methods to it, and saw to it that a remarkable change should be brought about in the form and method of educational work by dint of using bases for education such as revolutionary battle sites, revolutionary historic sites, rooms dedicated to education in revolutionary relics and rooms dedicated to history.
In the DPRK, educational work is being carried out in an offensive way like in the battle front to arm the entire people with the revolutionary tradition of Paektu, and the revolutionary spirit of Paektu across the Party and the society and enthusiasm for introducing innovations in production and construction, counterattacking manifold obstacles by following the revolutionary spirit of anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners, is growing higher everywhere in the country such as at factories and farms, which is the precious fruition of the leadership of the respected General Secretary who wisely guides the work of equipping people with the revolutionary spirit to be enhanced in the aspects of dissemination and effect.

The revolutionary spirit possessed by people does not get firm simply by education. Indomitable faith and will can get firmer in the course of carrying out their revolutionary task to the end unconditionally, breaking through any obstacle standing in the way and turning unfavorable conditions into favorable ones, along with continuous ideological education.
The fact that a lot of people made themselves strong in faith and will in the arduous and rigorous practice of revolution during the anti-Japanese revolutionary war, fatherland liberation war, post-war rehabilitation, the great Chollima advance and Arduous March clearly proves that revolutionary practice serves as the furnace for ideological training.
Especially, practical efforts become an important occasion for new generations who do not experience the rigorous ordeals of revolution to train themselves in terms of ideology, morality and will.
From the day they started the first advance in the new era of Juche-oriented revolution to this year, every year has become the continuation of severe ordeals and difficulties literally and the tasks faced by Koreans were almost beyond their power even in favorable days. The challenges and crises standing in the way of advance were so severe that it was impossible to deal with them by means of ordinary readiness and will.
It was the noble intention of the WPK that the extremely difficult situation should be turned into the favorable opportunity to train Korean people to be staunch fighters who would make their every possible effort for the victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche to the end, not changing their faith in revolution, no matter what may come.
Visiting the leading sectors of socialist construction day and night, the respected General Secretary encouraged Party members and working people to break through the hardships and obstacles they faced by displaying the indomitable revolutionary spirit and enhanced their zeal for revolution, struggle and patriotism.
Displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude to the full, Koreans have fulfilled the assignments set forth by the WPK without fail and during these years, they have become the creators of heroic deeds to maintain the major framework of the self-reliant economy and firmly lay down the potential for a new development of the state in spite of the desperate moves of hostile forces and severe natural disasters.
Such image of development and change in the DPRK today, which is admired not only by the world but also by Korean people themselves, is unthinkable apart from the wise leadership of the respected General Secretary who gave full play to the firm revolutionary spirit across the society.
It is thanks to the outstanding idea and wise leadership of the respected General Secretary who guides the entire people to embody the revolutionary spirit that Koreans are growing to be the greatest and strongest generation in the DPRK's history of development and on this land, remarkable successes are achieved in every sector of socialist construction despite severe hardships unprecedented in history.
