Our Party held the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea from December 26 to 31, Juche 111(2022) to clarify the positive and scientific policy orientation for dynamically leading the Korean-style socialism to a fresh change and development by thoroughly applying the idea of independence, self-sustenance and self-reliance, the invariable guidelines of the Korean revolution, in the present situation in which unpredictable difficulties threatening the existence and development of the state and people are arising from moment to moment, and decided on a series of important issues arising in the development of the Party and revolution at present.
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea held under the guidance of the respected General Secretary is a historic one which made an important turning point peculiar to the victorious course of the Korean revolution.
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea is a historic one that opened a broad avenue for the development of the state and gave the people greater confidence and optimism by clearly indicating our advance orientations and keys to making a leap forward under the changing revolutionary situation.
Our Party and people have pushed ahead with socialist construction more dynamically and extensively, overcoming the difficulties and challenges equivalent to the ten-year struggle for two years since the Eighth Congress of the Party, and have made great successes and progress in the course.
In particular, in 2022 full of all the unprecedented challenges and threats, our Party and people waged a heroic struggle to defend the validity of their cause and their dignity and honour so as to powerfully demonstrate the potentiality of the DPRK, its spirit and the staunch character of the Korean revolution. And through the process of making remarkable and meaningful progress, they came to believe their own strength more firmly, find out the main links of changes more clearly and map out the road of overall development more vividly.
It is the most precious experience gained through the trials of 2022 that our Party correctly grasped the peculiarities of the present internal and external environment and confirmed our revolutionary principle, methodology and orientation of advance, along with the successes achieved in the arduous course of aspiring after a new advance after successfully overcoming the dangerous and urgent difficulties decisive of the existence of the state.
At present there are unavoidable obstacles in the orientation of our advance to carve out a new surging phase of socialist construction.
The prevailing situation called for the Party to review the year of ordeals in which the arduous nature of all the years of the Korean revolution was agglomerated, endure everything in the face of difficulties and establish a more vigorous and convincing strategy of struggle on the basis of the fact that it made substantial progress.
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea proudly reviewed the all-people struggle of 2022 that made brilliant achievements in the spirit of fortitude and indicated the strategic and tactical policies and practical action tasks that propel a new leap forward in building socialism of our own style.
The respected General Secretary analyzed and appreciated in full detail the successes and progress made in carrying out the gigantic tasks set forth by the Fourth and Fifth plenary meetings of the Eighth Party Central Committee through the unprecedented arduous and fierce 2022 struggle at the plenary meeting, and the experience and lessons accumulated in the course of this, adding that certain successes made in all the work of the Party and state are a praiseworthy victory won only by our great people who have displayed the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude and the creativity while stoutly enduring the grave national crises, and the immortal feats to shine long in the history of the country forever.
The respected General Secretary said at the plenary meeting that it is the general direction of the new year's work to further expand and develop the all-people struggle to open a new phase in socialist construction so as to lay a decisive guarantee for the fulfillment of the five-year plan.
The year 2023, which is to carry out the tasks of the third year of key significance in implementing the five-year plan set forth at the Eighth Congress of the Party and mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th founding anniversary of the Republic, is an important year in the course of our socialist development and the history of the DPRK.
Depending on the struggle in 2023, it will be decided whether the precious achievements made by the struggle so far with devotion and patriotism and the two-year struggle for implementing the five-year plan lead to success and victory.
The respected General Secretary at the plenary meeting indicated all the tasks for ensuring stable development of the national economy and bringing about a substantial change in the improvement of the people's living standard, defined 2023 as a year of making a big stride in the development of the national economy, a year of attaining key goals in increasing production, carrying out the strategy of readjustment and reinforcement and improving the people's living standard, and set it as the main task of economic work to mainly complete the plan for readjustment and reinforcement decided by the Party Congress while pepping up production in all sectors and units.
He also clarified the most scientific and realistic strategies to bring the Korean revolution to a new higher stage, including the issue to thoroughly adhere to the Party's principle of attaching importance to and prioritizing science and technology, the issue to actively organize and properly lead the socialist patriotic movement and the revolutionary mass movement, the powerful driving force for the prosperity and development of the state.
Thus, the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was a historic one for opening a wide avenue for the development of the state and giving the people greater confidence and optimism by clarifying the path of new leap forward and mapping out the most correct and effective strategy on the basis of the experience, lessons and substantial advance accumulated through the stubborn struggle in 2022.
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea is a historic one which made it possible for our Party to carry forward the history of power shining with victory and glory by formulating the direction of party building in the new era as the line of the Party which firmly guarantees the eternal future.
Since the Party is the General Staff of the revolution and the organizer and guide of all victories, the work of strengthening the Party must always precede the times and continue to intensify along with the changes of the times.
In this sense, the cause of party building is precisely the revolutionary cause, and the level of party building is precisely the level of the development of the revolution.
The prestige and might of the socialist ruling party are clearly manifested in the leadership practice of the revolution and construction.
In order to push ahead with the revolution and construction successfully without slight twists and turns, the leadership and fighting efficiency of the Party, the General Staff of the revolution, must be maintained and strengthened in every way, and the fundamental issue for this is to identify the correct direction of party building in which the Party's guidance, fighting efficiency and the art of leadership can be steadily enhanced in conformity with the prevailing situations of the revolution and the requirements of the developing revolution.
Our Party has covered a long ruling course of nearly 80 years with its important mission to be responsible for the destiny and future of the Korean people and passed through the periods of succession and development of historic significance in its strengthening for the past ten years.
In this important historical period, our Party has remarkably strengthened its leadership ability and fighting efficiency while thoroughly maintaining its revolutionary character and nature, thus providing a springboard for the building of a promising party and made great miraculous successes to be sure of the future of socialism despite severe difficulties.
At present, our Party is faced with a responsible period when it should carry forward its ruling course to the eternal future.
It is an important issue for our Party to provide powerful guidelines for firmly preserving its revolutionary character and nature and remarkably enhancing its leading and vanguard role on the basis of directly facing up to the changes of the times and examining the Party's reality.
With a deep insight into these demands, the respected General Secretary defined the political, organizational, ideological, disciplinary and work-style building in the direction of building our Party in a new era in order to strengthen our Party as a politically mature, organizationally firm, ideologically pure, disciplined and sound party in work-style as required by the new era.
And in the historic commemorative lecture he gave to the teaching staff and students of Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea on October 17, Juche 111(2022), he proudly reviewed the past ten years of epoch-making progress by combining thorough inheritance and novelty and combining the strengthening of the Party work for implementing the immediate revolutionary tasks with the prospective party building guaranteeing the future development of the revolution, and set forth the orientation for party building in the new era, an important milestone in the development of our Party and revolution.
The orientation of party building in the new era clarified by the respected General Secretary is a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon and immortal banner which provided a sure guarantee for speeding up socialist and communist construction by developing the dignified Workers' Party of Korea, which has covered a long ruling course, into a promising party forever and remarkably enhancing its leading role.
The idea and theory of Party building in the new era, originally advanced by the General Secretary, included the revolutionary essence, content and valuable experience of the building of organization, ideology and leadership art which has been accumulated historically, suggested all urgent problems arising in the practice of Party work and solved them scientifically.
So, they won full support and approval of the Party officials and members in a few months after their announcement.
A resolution on defining the five-point orientation based on the General Secretary's unique idea and theory of party building as the WPK's line of party building in the new era was adopted with unanimous applause.
The five-point orientation based on the theory of Party building in the new era has been confirmed as the line of the party building of the WPK so that our Party can constantly maintain and strengthen its character and nature and discharge its sacred mission and responsibility for the people forever.
Thus, the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, which fully demonstrated the mature leadership ability of our Party confidently leading the socialist cause of Korean style and added fresh courage and vigour to the dynamic advance of our state along the road chosen by itself and to the indomitable fighting spirit of our people, was recorded in the sacred history of the Juche revolution as a significant occasion that made an important turning point peculiar to the victorious path of our revolution.
The Korean people will turn out in the struggle for implementing the decision of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea under the leadership of the great Party and thus glorify 2023 as a year of great turn and change to be remarkably recorded in the course of development of the DPRK.
